It was an absolute pleasure covering Rapids 2 this season and speaking with Eric after every home match. An absolute steward of the club, a great leader, and great human. He will be missed but I wish him the best of luck.

For once last time this season, we’re at the University of Denver as the Colorado Rapids 2 take on North Texas. Stay tuned for the Starting XI and stay longer for the match thread! If you’re at the match the match and see us, come say what’s up!

90+2’ - SUB ON: Aquino OFF: Stewart-Baynes

FULL TIME! In their final match of the season, Rapids 3 defeat North Texas 2-1! A fantastic way to end what has been a tough season for the lads.

88’ - SUBS ON: Harper, Altayeb OFF: Tchoumba, Rogelio Garcia

90’ - A yellow card to Fadal and a free kick to North Texas in a very dangerous spot Four minutes stoppage time 90+1’ - Free kick straight into the wall

79’ - SUBS ON: Siegler, Del Carmen OFF: Luis Garcia, Heredia

85’ - Goal, North Texas. Sustained pressure leads to some sloppy defense

58’ - Looked like Stewart-Baynes was fouled in the box. Instead, he gets a yellow for simulation

61’ - GGGGGGOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! 2-0, R2!!!! Heredia receives and beats a couple defenders! Great goal!

46’ - Second half is underway! No changes

52’ - North Texas has been living in the box. Finally get a good look and push it wide

Four minutes stoppage time

HALFTIME - Rapidos go in with the 1-0 lead. Probably could have a couple more. Should have at least one more. A good half nonetheless. North Texas had chances earlier but the game has evened out. Probably tilted more for Colorado.

43’ - PENALTY! Tchoumba plays a great ball over the top to Stewart-Baynes, who is then ridden to the ground

44’ - Kimani takes but it’s off the woodwork. No goal

33’ - Dowd is on an island again and makes a great save to force the corner

38’ - GGGGGGOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!!! Jonny De La Fuente with an absolute BANGER!!!!! Pulls up from Golden and buries it far post. Not shot for the keeper at all. And I mean BANNNMNGGGGGEEERRRRRR!!!! 1-0, R2

24’ - Corner taken DANGEROUS but the header finds the side netting

28’ - North Texas chance! Great cross and header but does made himself big and keeps it scoreless

9’ - Copeland slides out to Stewart-Baynes. He cuts in and takes a shot that’s just wide

22’ - R2 corner at the expense of a North Texas player taking one in the jewels. He was up but now he’s back down. Looked painful.

4’ - A great take but Dowd makes a great save

8’ - Garcia gives it a go but it’s deflected directly to the keeper

1’ - This match is underway!

3’ - North Texas with an early break but Dowd is ready. Rapidos give up a free kick not too long after though. Dangerous spot here.

Substitutes Dashiel Williams, Niccolo Del Carmen, Jordan Camacho, Kai Thomas, Hamdoin Altayeb, Sebastian Siegler, Kellen Lowery, Charlie Harper, Chris Aquino

Bryce Jamison in the building, up from the Springs for the match!

It’s Decision Day for MLS NEXT Pro, but the decision was made long ago for R2. Today, they’re looking to end the season on a positive note, with their heads held high. It’s been a rough season, but they’ve still got a lot of talent.

Starting XI Bryan Dowd, Josh Copeland, Vincent Rinaldi, Grant Gilmore, Jonny De La Fuente, Ali Fadal [C], Luis García, Kimani Stewart-Baynes, Rogelio Garcia, Nathan Tchoumba, Edgar Heredia
