what i have learned about myself this month is that trying to meaningfully engage with the world design, story, dialogue, or atmosphere of a video game is absolutely impossible when playing co-op, which is apparently only suited for fun shenanigans in other words, orbitals so far < part time u.f.o.

a direct presaging of all our favorite megaten negotiations

In the Japanese PC-88 port of Ultima 3: Exodus by Pony Canyon, if you try to Talk/Transact (T key) to an enemy monster, they literally say "FUCK YOU!!" in English. Hilarious, and apparently nobody has discovered or posted about this before online in English or Japanese

wanted to check out some of the new sicko games on nintendo's gba app but instead i've been tearing my way through puzzle league, it is simply too spiritually soothing my eighth panel de pon and it still goes down perfect. and there was even a surprise, vertical mode!

wondering if this was a break glass in case of an emergency situation for amanita anyways, if you enjoy aesthetic wonderlands and czech voiceovers (recently added!) buy phonopolis right now

not to harp on it but this is a game that I think would've had a much larger footprint (& larger than than of nominally similar, recently-buzzing micom games like Dead of the Brain or Laplace no Ma) if the PCECD version didn't absolutely smother the vibes (to say nothing of recent developments...)

finally allowed myself to finish onryou senki and not afraid to call this a work of capital a ART. so immediately impactful and invigorating that i am straight up inspired to write again for the first time in five years, stay tuned for the resurrection of my tumblr lol

there is a metric ton of evidence for many assorted reasons that literally no one else will care to actually read this, but every once in a while a game is so inspiring that you want to write just for the sake of it. banged out 2000 words and counting so we're already in the nocturne post zone!

finished panic bomber w through sheer blind luck, which is why i am sharing both representative screens of my skill level elated to have experienced this beautiful perfectly soundtracked fun in english, this was close to being one of the greats, really too bad about the wild racism!

cannot believe that waiting dozens of years for lufia 2 and terranigma has actually paid off in 2027. gimme treasure of the rudras and that's my entire snes dream list sorted, what an absolutely wild time we live in

and now i am the first person in north america to finish u.f.o. day in the life on switch 2 (lol) my review: this game really needed some moon discs!!! i anticipate that over time, like every lovedelic work, memories of tedium or player hostility will fade and only the magical moments will remain

currently obsessed with the soundtrack, vibe, and whole general deal of onryou senki, thanks eggconsole www.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dn2MJ5pawNMQ&usg=AOvVaw0L4jgP6fI_ei2Q3IBSRCNJ&opi=89978449

For @aftermath.site, we're in a boom period for fan translations of unique games that we never made it to the west. I focused on four: Kamaitachi no Yoru, Kowloon's Gate, London Spirit Detectives, and Innocent Tears, and spoke to the people behind the projects. aftermath.site/kamaitachi-n...

For anyone interested, developer Taro Kudo, who apparently usually keeps a very low media profile, will be on Hamster's stream tomorrow to talk about the game's creation

the Console Archives title you've all been waiting on is finally here: Love-de-lic's 1999 PlayStation adventure game UFO -A day in the life- (and no, it's not translated) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2dUAzBEHjM

taking this opportunity to remind the world that the creator of Boku no Natsuyasumi made a modern-gen summer vacation game called Natsu-Mon that you can buy on PC & Switch rn (idk if or to what extent they turned things around but the creator's said that the PC version was a massive bomb...)

Watched Totoro last night, I found the original Fox dub, the superior one imho. The ultimate summer movie. It makes me wish that all those chill life sim games where you basically enjoy summer vacation in rural Japan would be ported over to English. That needs to be the next indie gaming trend

Beep21 has just published an interview with Yoji Ishii, Hiro and Masaki Kondoh to mark the 40th anniversary of Fantasy Zone. In it, we learn that it was the late Yoko Kobayashi / 小林陽子, character designer for Alex Kidd and Teddy Boy, who designed Opa Opa and most of the other characters in the game.

been carefully portioning out my phonopolis play sessions like precious gems and was rewarded less than an hour in with what may be one of the most beautiful game sequences i have ever experienced holy moly
