One candidate for governor has served our country in uniform, prosecuted criminals, and ran for office to protect health care. The other has says he is "100% MAGA" and supports what Trump is doing to strip health care from New Jerseyans. I know who I’ll be voting for this November: Mikie Sherrill.

Why are Trump and Republicans choosing to shut down the government instead of trying to stop huge increases in your insurance premiums?

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice. Except it doesn’t bend on its own—it bends because we pull it in the direction of justice. What keeps me hopeful during times like these is being surrounded by people who are doing just that.

Less than 36 hours away from a shutdown, Republicans chose to fly to North Carolina instead of to DC to do their jobs. This field hearing is just another example of them exploiting tragedy to score political points.

For 126 years the VFW has stood for America’s veterans and their families. Now veterans and the VFW are getting squeezed, and a Republican shutdown could make things even worse. I’m going to keep standing up for our veterans, their services and their jobs, no matter how tough or how long the fight.

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism. If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone. Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

The good news is that the constitution provides ways for Congress and the Judiciary to reign in a power-hungry president. The bad news is those people are all scared of him.

It’s astounding (and terrifying!) how scared most GOP officials are of their OWN VOTERS/SUPPORTERS. The lack of moral courage right now is heartbreaking. Maybe you don’t owe loyalty to people who want you dead?

Put aside the lies and the open defiance of the Supreme Court, as well as the cruelty, and ask yourself: who talks like this? This is the *official* account of the *White House* - is it being run by a six year old?

Americans are entitled to and should demand better than this from the President of the United States.
