These were engraved in reverse order than how I would engrave future ones. In the future the engraving would be FIRST and then the laser would cut it, so there shouldn't be any misalignment.

This is like saying a photographer only presses a button and doesn't have to study composition, contrast, location, color theory, even storytelling when performing their craft A camera isn't a machine that just spits out things if you tell it to. It's a tool for a specific purpose

This is like saying that a photographer is not an artist just because the camera renders photos on their behalf. While there are painters who took this position when the camera was introduced, it's generally seen as being irrational today.
