Hobbies include maintaining a PDS for a Bluesky account that only posts about said PDS every few months

Just updated my PDS. Testing!!

Checking my PDS still works 😉

Thinking about how to explain the value of AT Proto: - You can’t send a DM from your Twitter account to someone’s Instagram account - You can send an email from your Google Gmail account to someone’s Microsoft Outlook account AT Proto brings the interoperability of email to social media.

This took much longer than I anticipated (surprise) as I had to figure out email verification, but I have successfully moved this account from one self-hosted PDS to another! Woo-hoo! Thanks to @baileytownsend.dev for making pdsmoover.com 😇

I am going to attempt to migrate this account from one PDS to another. Wish me luck!!

glad it's not just me. I consider myself pretty good at docs but the ATProto stuff kept going over my head. looking forward to checking out this blog post! 🫡

New Leaflet post! Where I try to process my thoughts and feelings about the modern, hostile internet based on conversations with a buch of other Philadelphia musicians.

I'm sold on ATProto and ActivityPub. The big question is whether the benefits of either are great enough to overcome their complexity to a non-technical person. How can I explain "it's decentralized" to a Philly DIY musician in a way that they'll care? Once I say the word "server" I've lost them.

If you saw my homepage before I forgot to add the viewport meta tag... no you didn't

oh no I am already being perceived! before I’ve had anything interesting to say!

"Is Bluesky federated?" ended up being a much more complicated question than I anticipated.
