While doing some work in Conductor, Codex regularly shows: > CHATGPT USAGE LIMIT REACHED But ChatGPT has 60% of 5h quota and 80% of weekly quota left. The problem disappears at reset, so I wonder if there's application specific limits in addition to the regular quota limit ๐Ÿค”

Since September 2026 Florecita Panaderia has relocated to the corner of 23rd street and Bartlett street, in the location that used to host Shuggies (and Velvet Cantina before that). Their made-from-scratch pan dulce/conchas are delicious! More: puf.io/socials/2026-...

๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธ Terry Pratchett's Dodger gives a critical view of conditions in Victorian-era London as a whole, while showing that there are good people to be found even in the most dire of places and circumstances. I really liked it! โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† Full review: puf.io/books/dodger-...

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ Being beautiful is not the same as being good. Being respected is not the same as being worthy. Lords and Ladies wraps ideas like those in hilarious comedy, elves, witches, and one very memorable suit of armor. Rating: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† Full review puf.io/books/lords-a...

I'm working with multiple agents on a project, the constant presence of this button is "somewhat" anxiety inducing. ๐Ÿ˜… (this is the Conductor app's version, but I expect that most tools have something similar)

"We've reserved your LinkedIn handle on our new site that you've never heard of before we sent you this email" would've been another way to phrase this. :-/

๐Ÿ““ Hyperpolitics explores how we got to the current state of politics: everything feels intensely political, yet very little changes. It was fascinating to read his analysis, but I wish it had been written in more accessible language. 3/5 โญ Full review: puf.io/books/hyperpo...

Published in 1998, Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Talents was set in a near-future post-apocalyptic world. By now its story begins just a few years into the future and is eerily recognizable. A hard book to read, for all the right reasons. โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† puf.io/books/parable...

Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve in San Francisco has a dense forest area, with eucalyptus trees (up to 200 feet tall), and lots of underbrush (lots of ferns, blackberries, and ivy) rolling over the hills. It's a great area for intermediate-level hiking on a hot day. More ๐Ÿ‘‡ 1/2

๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿช I enjoyed the Veronica Mars TV show, movie, and audiobooks this year, so Neptune Noir seemed like a no-brainer. However, the essays in this book are not written by the Veronica Mars creator, and I found them mostly uninteresting. โญโญโ˜†โ˜†โ˜† Review: puf.io/books/neptune...

Did @doctorow.pluralistic.net 's books 'Enshittification'and 'Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI' reveal a new world to me? Nah. Did they expand, dispell, reinforce, embarrass, and in other ways alter notions I held, rather than merely entertain them? Yeh. Very much so! Big recommend ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ“™ The Amber Spyglass seems to be the most divisive book in Pullmanโ€™s oft-praised trilogy. Given how explicitly it deals with religion, I get how it may be hard to stomach for certain folks. For me, though, it was a fascinating exploration of these ideas puf.io/books/the-amb...

๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธ While Terry Pratchett is best known for his Discworld series, he also wrote a decent number of books outside of the Discworld universe. Dodger came out in 2012, after The Long Earth and before Raising Steam. Book details and my review ๐Ÿ‘‡ in ๐Ÿงต 1/3

*Dodger* is set in mid-1800s London. He starts off as a tosher, scavenging the sewers for a living. He rescues a young woman from a beating and develops into a detective, a folk hero, and finally a spy for Queen Victoria. Charles Dickens and Sweeney Todd also appear. More ๐Ÿ‘‡ 2/3

I really liked *Dodger*. While the protagonist is a bit over-capable and the central plot is not very strong, the book shows off many of the best traits Pratchett's writing is known for. Social critique at its finest. Rating: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† Full review: puf.io/books/dodger-... 3/3

๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿš€ Great setup and writing in John Scalziโ€™s 3 Days, 9 Months, 27 Years, especially how the different travelers and their goals let the story explore several time-travel scenarios. I found the ending less satisfying than Iโ€™d hoped for, though. โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† puf.io/books/3-days,...

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฅ I loved Lords and Ladies. Beautiful but cruel elves, Granny Weatherwax at her kind-but-not-nice best, and Magrat growing from a "wet hen" (Granny's words, not mine) into a confident warrior queen. ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿ—ก๏ธ Rating: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† Full review: puf.io/books/lords-a...

The first personal computer I owned was an Atari 600XL, which we then upgraded to 48KB memory. Now, I know I'm probably not gonna do a lot with this device, but still... it's an awesome retro kit.

๐Ÿ“— Octavia Butler's Parable of the Talents started showing up in my book recommendations regularly in recent years. First published in 1998, its recent resurgence likely has to do with its narrative of a social and economic collapse of the US. โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† puf.io/books/parable...

The Reddit filters/bots can appear pretty aggressive at times. For example, when I read that first removed comment in the screenshot, it looked OK at first glance. Then I saw the second one, and... OK, now it seems like ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿง  indeed. Kudos for keeping up with it, Reddit ๐Ÿ‘ 1/2

And of course, if *your* real, human comments ever get removed by the filter, message the mods to get it sorted. ๐Ÿ™ 2/2

Oooh... look, there is a new icon on my book reviews on puf.io now. ๐Ÿ It linked to GoodReads already, but if a review is also posted to BookHive (which should be happening automatically), it now also has a link to bookhive.buzz. Details โฌ‡๏ธ 1/3

I built this automation with Codex and it's running on val.town. It consumes my GoodReads progress updates and reviews from RSS, and then cross-posts updates to bookhive.buzz through atproto records. Atmosphere = ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒ€๐Ÿฆ‹ (diagrammed in tldraw offline) 2/3

You know the craziest bit of this? The hardest part was making that monochromatic icon, as the BookHive repo doesn't provide one and Codex kept getting a bit too creative with it. ๐Ÿค–๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ˜‚ OK, now go check out puf.io/books if you're into reading. ๐Ÿ“–โค๏ธ 3/3

๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿš€ 3 Days, 9 Months, 27 Years by John Scalzi has a fun time-travel premise, with travelers returning after one of said internals while changes in the past create new timelines. Most of the story executes that premise well. The ending less so. โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† puf.io/books/3-days,...

๐Ÿ“š The Amber Spyglass is much more philosophical than the previous two books, exploring free will, divine authority, and how love can take many forms. For me, it was a fascinating exploration of these ideas and a good ending to an interesting trilogy. ๐Ÿ‘€ puf.io/books/the-amb...

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿฅ Terry Pratchett's Discworld series spans more than 40 books, with several recurring groups of characters. Lords and Ladies is the fourth novel centered on the Lancre witches, and picks right up after Witches Abroad. ๐Ÿง™ More about the book and my review โฌ‡๏ธ in ๐Ÿงต 1/3

Magrat prepares to marry King Verence, but Lancre is invaded by elves: beautiful due to magical glamour, but inherently cruel and dangerous. It all reeks of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, with everything twisted 180ยฐ around in a way that only Pratchett can. โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿ“‹ 2/3

๐Ÿงโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿงโ€โ™‚๏ธ Lords and Ladies combines hilarious comedy with deep philosophical ideas. Granny Weatherwax and Magrat are both especially strong here. I look forward to the next adventure of the Lancre witches. Rating: โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† Full review: puf.io/books/lords-a... 3/3
