Think of two brands who sell posh homes. Just in the middle of buying my 25th from Savills in Balham and 21st from Knight Frank in Wandsworth. Now think of one who just buys them.

In November, a lobbying firm approached me and asked to pay me to write articles critical of the Building Safety Regulator for newspapers. Filmed undercover, their staff admitted secretly paying reporters for copy in British newspapers friendly to their clients: www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Politics has a direct impact on both the housing market and on house prices. This evening it feels like the market (both sales & lettings) is under increased pressure & that your home may be worth less tonight than it was this morning.

So I'm interested in a nice house being sold by Fine & Country who tell me there are two other buyers each being represented by .. Fine & Country. It's ok, apparently because F&C are a franchise and the buyers are being looked after by separate franchises. Is this a conflict of interest?

I’ll be knocking 5% off all my offers for homes this week on the back of this news and that even that may not be enough. Congratulations to the 🤡 🤡 who thought that this would be a good idea.

Is it a #BuyersMarket? Pretty grim reading for sellers in Fulham from a local agent over on LinkedIn. Unusual to find such honesty - something a lot of his competitors could do well to follow.

Two things that get on my wick! 1. Estate agents who agree a deal but who don't yet have a solicitor lined up. I've had four so far this month. 2. Estate agents who want £49 to AML check the buyer. I've had two so far this month.

Time to remind agents Section 6(1)c of GDPR says you can share CDD WITHOUT obtaining consent if "𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁;"

Not one but two deals agreed so far this week. What's annoying is that the last three deals were rushed by the agents only to find that the sellers hadn't even got a solicitor!
