BBC news site: "What is walking down the newly pedestrianised Oxford Street like?" Er, like walking down the road with no traffic? Is this what passes for news and commentary nowadays? And anyway, why do I need to know about this in Manchester? (BBC news knows where I live...)

I could spend the rest of my life analysing this feedback sign in the local Home Bargains. Did 'not happy' break from overuse? Was it taped over to ensure 100% positive feedback? Is the green 'b' in 'feedback' some kind of subliminal nudge? Is the duck tape indent because people still keep pressing?

Thinking up game mash ups for B3ta and why doesn't this exist? Does it? It feels like such an obvious fit. P1 is the Lemmings P2 is Worms, P1 has to escape while P2 tried to destroy them all? Or a three player version where the Worms are also fighting each other/protecting lemmings.

Today I've had two similar but different posted letters 'from' Reform, presumably because a local councillor resigned and we've got an election soon. I've had Restore at my door (who were polite when I said no thank you to their leaflet) and Labour have put through a large A4 glossy promo.

Skim reading the Reform letters is depressing. Same rhetoric and disingenuous phrasing :-( Clearly all the parties are targeting us; not heard from LD, Green or Conservative yet though. (I'm in Manchester)

Hello! It doesn’t cost anything to repost but it helps me spread the word about my small business. My online shop is full of bold & colourful prints, homewares and cards. I’m also available for freelance design work and art licensing. gailmyerscough.co.uk

Something delightful that I spotted whilst watching an episode of Keeping Up Appearances on iplayer earlier whilst doing something else... I love this sort of thing. No doubt many people already know about it...

And on this note, surely signing the petition to save Radio 4 Extra can't hurt: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

I made a little show as an extra for BBC Radio 4 Extra (pretty much in my own time): it’s being repeated to mark 20 years since the death of Nigel Kneale. This sort of bonus (dare I say it Reithian?) content will not be possible once the station goes in March. Enjoy: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

I fail to understand how Tesco's commitment to sustainability squares with the fact they print out an extra 15cm of receipt with every purchase to inform me that they've entered me in a competition. That must be thousands of metres across the country wasted every day.

It occurs to me that a small pride badge on University Challenge is neither a brand nor a slogan, regardless of the Strictly case.

Hope do I stop Android auto updating? I normally do it manually but this is twice now it's taken upon itself to do it overnight itself, which means it reboots, gets stuck and doesn't play my alarm clock that's set on the phone in the morning.

The risk here is that Radio Comedy - a distinct art in its own right with its own discipline and method - is relegated to another layer of television's development substrata.

University of Nottingham, right now, is cutting 560 jobs. Do we need to rebrand universities as very large, very clean, land-based oil rigs to get government support?

Leo Hickman@leohickman.carbonbrief.org

From the govt's press release: "The developer estimates that Jackdaw will create 27 new direct jobs and safeguard 273 existing jobs that would otherwise be lost." Odd that so much is made about this being good for jobs. Your nearest out-of-town supermarket likely generates more jobs.

Amazing. This is what happens when you take humans out of the equation. Funny here, but terrifying to think about other mistakes it's making in more serious contexts that aren't caught or obvious. Just Eat apologises for AI food mistakes after social media ridicule www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I love Radio 4 Extra and it gave me some of my favourite jobs including Newsjack. I am gutted to hear this news, not least because it is my almost constant companion in my car. I want to be able to stumble across programmes that I might not have chosen to listen to - please sign the petition

Keep pushing this guys. The people who love this station the most probably aren't chronically online like we are so we need to spread this about a bit you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

OK, so Helen Whately and the Express are doubling down and going all out hysterical at this point...🙄 They've actually "calculated" the state benefits a man with ELEVEN WIVES could claim!! And this time, they've done it behind a paywalled article🤷‍♀️ But don't worry, I got behind it!🤓 🧵1/20

The approval of the Jackdaw gas field is an environmental catastrophe. But also, side-eyeing this from an industry which has lost THIRTY THOUSAND JOBS in the past five years, what the absolute fuck is this justification?

Government support for drilling at #Jackdaw takes a wrecking ball to any pretence of UK climate leadership & pours fuel on an overheating world - and for what? It’s equivalent to just 2 months of UK gas demand, creates just 27 direct jobs & has *no* impact on energy bills🧵1/4
