👏🏼 it was inspiring to hear Taylor Rehmet speak. I look forward to hearing about his work for Texans.

"Teachers sat with me - not with pity, with patience. They do not lower the bar, they show you a way over it." Thank you to TX State Senator & @machinistsunion.bsky.social member Taylor Rehmet for telling your story about growing up with dyslexia and the teachers who helped you grow.

Today I made an unannounced visit to ICE’s facility in Scarborough, Maine. What I heard was unacceptable: no body cameras, no training, and no accountability. Johan Guerrero should be alive. Congress must act. Abolish ICE. End qualified immunity.

What an honor to see this astute panel.

Working people today are facing unprecedented challenges to our fundamental rights & to our democracy. But as a panel of scholars who study civics, democratic backsliding, voting rights & authoritarianism told convention attendees today, unions have the power we need to meet the moment.

Well, I don't expect any news on the Canvas front tonight so I will step away from my laptop and stop checking campus email for now. Only two more weeks until the end of the semester too. I can't SMDH enough.

Remember that MLK said America suffers not just from "the vitriolic words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people."

Happy Friday! It was so cold out this morning! 🥶 I am glad for the rain we had (so is my garden!) but also grateful for the sunny days ahead.

In this economy, working people don’t have the time or money to drive longer distances or wait in long lines to get a passport or other documents to vote—but that’s what the SAVE America Act would do. The SAVE America Act is a voter suppression scam. https://bit.ly/4s84swO

This photo was taken of miners at the end of their shift during the Gilded Age before they were unionized. A Labor Day reminder of the blood, sweat, and tears that those before us paid to give the working class the basic rights that Trump and his thugs are trying to strip away.

There is no finish line for grief. Particularly after a traumatic loss by suicide. There is only learning to carry it differently. Be patient with those still finding their way 💛 #DaddyBlackbird #SuicideLoss #Grief #Hope

Troops Arriving by Bus to the Presidio, San Francisco (1939) Military vehicles pulled up along the edge of the Presidio as groups of uniformed men stepped out, some carrying duffel bags slung over their shoulders.

I'm old enough to remember this primarily because a friend was in grad school in Scotland and couldn't travel home as planned as a result.

On May 22, 2010, Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano officially ceased erupting after 39 days. Its ash cloud had paralyzed European air traffic, impacting millions and revealing the global fragility of transportation networks to natural events. #StayCurious #Skystorians #DiveIntoDiscovery

If you don’t get your paycheck, do you just let it go and assume it will get fixed next month? Are you a fraudster if you complain? Many social security recipients need this money - that they’ve EARNED - to eat. Next month doesn’t work for them any better than missing a paycheck works for workers.

I know cheating is rampant more than ever now, but I was discouraged to see that Nursing students may be referring to exams that have been published online. This is the title of one I ran across today: "PSYCH EXAM II QUESTIONS WITH CORRECT ANSWERS GRADED A+ SUCCESS GUARANTEED, Exams of Nursing"😞
