Great autobiographical review from Jocelyn Bell Burnell, although some of the things she has had to put up with will make your blood boil. Hero. www.annualreviews.org/content/jour...
Nominating diverse candidates only works if the committees then actually take note of who is nominated. The whole institution is deeply, deeply flawed. Diversify Nobel-prize nominations before it’s too late www.nature.com/articles/d41...

As expected, the Prime Minister's promise to sort out the mess of funding for Jodrell actually meant nothing - it seems the government would like it to be some sort of heritage theme park when you can go and see where we used to do science. 🔭
'The University of Manchester is seeking alternative funding sources to keep scientific work at Jodrell Bank going after hearing that lost UK Research and Innovation funding would not be restored despite interventions by the prime minister.'

Fab story from Margaret Hamilton, RIP, showing why Science-Mums are brilliant scientists! When innovating at the cutting edge of technology, it's so important to bring together a wide range of lived experiences. Sad that only ~20% comp-scientists are female 👩🔬🧪 ℹ️: www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
Congratulations to now *Dr* Gabriele Montefusco, from Université de Caen Normandie, on a stellar PhD defence! And fun to share a screen with fellow PhD jury members including @jocelynread.bsky.social !

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.
