For Filecoin and IPFS nodes, Sonar asks each IPNI indexer if your peer is a registered provider. Then it shows the latest state: the CID of the most recent advertisement, or the last error. Check your node: probelab.io/sonar/ @filecoin.io @ipfs.tech

Did your upgrade reach the network? Sonar shows the client version and the protocols that your node advertises. From years of crawler data, it also shows when they changed. You see each upgrade and the day our crawlers first saw it. probelab.io/sonar/

Sonar connects to your node and reads its DHT routing table. The card shows how many peers are in each bucket. Hover over a cell to see their PeerIDs. It also shows how many other peers have your node in their routing tables. probelab.io/sonar/search...

Can other peers reach your node, and on which addresses? Sonar dials every address your node advertises, one at a time. For each address, you see the dial time, the round-trip time, and the full error if the dial fails. Try it on an IPFS bootstrapper: probelab.io/sonar/search...

ProbeLab Sonar is now in public beta! Paste a PeerID, ENR, or Multiaddress to: • Probe your node live & see how the network views it • Compare real-time stats against years of crawler data Try it free 👉 probelab.io/sonar/ What Sonar checks on each network 🧵👇

This is just the beginning. Each lookup is a snapshot and we want to add monitoring: you register your node once, Sonar probes it on a schedule and tells you when something is not as it should be. Do you want this for your nodes? Tell us. All details in the blog post: probelab.io/blog/introdu...

Next 🔜 CIDs and Multihashes. Sonar will show who provides the content, from IPNI and the Amino DHT, and check if you can retrieve it. IPNS and DNSLink names follow. We are also planning to surface DNS info. It finds the DNS problems that make libp2p dials fail.

We also want to add cards for each network: · FOC SPs: registry entry, Curio version, deal and retrieval success rates · Ethereum: sync state, fork readiness, PeerDAS custody, validor performance · Celestia: node type and lag · Polkadot and Avail: validator records

Sonar also probes peers on Celestia, Polkadot and Avail. On every network, Sonar shows the client and protocols that the network sees you run, where your IP address is, and if an admin port is open to the internet. @polkadot.com

Filecoin: the same reachability and DHT checks for your storage provider. Sonar also asks each IPNI indexer if your node is a registered provider, and checks if your Lotus API port is open to the internet. @filecoin.io @fil.org

While Sonar is being prepared, take the time to play with ProbeLab's ENR Viewer — decode @ethereum.org Node Records in your browser. 🔍 Paste an ENR string, see the node ID, public key, derived PeerID, IP, UDP port, and identity scheme. No CLI needed. Try it: probelab.io/enr-viewer/

probelab.ioENR Viewer — Decode Ethereum Node Records | ProbeLab AnalyticsFree online ENR decoder and viewer. Decode Ethereum Node Records (EIP-778), inspect node IDs, public keys, IP addresses, ports, and GeoIP data.

ProbeLab's Sonar is about to be released! You'll be able to see your node the way the network sees it - stay tuned!

🚀 Speed & Regional Latency: -> Kubo v0.39+ publish gains hold: consistently <1 second. -> Lookup times are fastest in Europe and scale up as requests move east/west toward US and APAC regions. -> Service Worker Gateways show snappy 150–250ms TTFB on cache hits.

How has IPFS performed over the last 7 weeks? @ProbeLab's performance update for Weeks 29–36 (2026) is out! Here are the key takeaways from our network crawlers & probe infrastructure: 🔗 discuss.ipfs.tech/t/probelab-s... 🧵 Glance through all the metrics at: probelab.io

discuss.ipfs.techProbeLab’s Notable IPFS Performance Results - Week 36, 2026Following up on our update back in Week 29 (mid-July), we are looking across the data from July and August to bring you the most notable network performance trends up to today (Week 36, September 2026...

⚡ Traffic & Node Influx: -> DHT client nodes doubled in mid-August, peaking near ~800k nodes per week. -> Public HTTP gateway traffic spiked to several billion requests/day alongside the client influx. -> Core DHT servers stayed calm and steady at 23k–25k, per week.
