Such a fun and concise intro to the IndieWeb, featuring some of my friends and role models. Give it a read!

Thanks to Big Tech, the ethos and aesthetics of the mainstream web have become largely impersonal and commercial. But there’s a renaissance happening on the indie web. Website crafters are going back to HTML and building expressive personal projects. Let @chezpanique.bsky.social take you on a tour

Also, after spending half the day with Sofia Isella's music I'm starting to wonder if: - Chelsea Wolfe - Fiona Apple - Primus/Tool - and Lingua Ignota participated in some Expanse-like musical-genetic-collective, likely some time around 2005 AD

(probably helps that I don't speak any Russian - if I recognise a familiar word, I just imagine the meaning of the rest of the song)

Left: Vibe coded a tiny web app to extract colour palettes from movies. It works pretty well! If I re-write it from scratch, I'll post it here. Right: Wada Sanzo's Dictionary of Colour Combinations (In other words: I'm fighting the urge to add more themes to Ensō – this is my way of channeling it)

OK, so... I accidentally bumped the short app version to a really high number and pushed it to AppStore Connect. Is it bad? I feel like (knowing Apple) this is bad, and I'll learn about it really late. #macos #indiedev #apple

I'm wondering if this is one of the situations where just before the release I'll learn that I'd need to create a new app and lose all of my TF testers.

First 1½ bug fixes just arrived: 1) dead-key input works fine now (I was too clever with preventing the user from selecting/editing text) This has been the most common error report I've seen on TestFlight so far.

1½) Now you can write Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft and savour its every single letter, like a true steamship-loving sociopath. Claude was eager to convince me to rewrite the entire app, but luckily I still remember that `word-break` exists.

That said, I'm mostly happy that for a larger part of the day, people would scroll to me before reaching the doomscrolling part of the feed (6.,7.)... and perhaps met the pear-butt instead.

OK, we have 300(!) new sigma testers so far, and a ton of feedback, mainly regarding internationalisation (dead key input in Brazilian vs. Portuguese, then pinyin and Japanese). (I usually test it Ensō with: EN, PL, AR, FA, PT) This is going to be a fun rabbit hole #indiedev #a11y

So far: - I had to 4x the test group size as all slots got booked quickly - received a ton of (largely useful) feedback from users - the post wasn't mean to be a pitch of Ensō so many people came there without context -- luckily the mods stepped in and updated the description when I was busy

I'm starting to feel quite happy withe new version of Ensõ. It's even simpler than the previous one, supports OLED friendly themes, native menus, and... the coffeeshop mode! Calling the version sigma because it feels more Keanu than Hasselhoff. DM if you want to try it out!

I couldn't stop thinking about how Fervour handles mental illness: as a story characters tell about each other, never disclosing about themselves. This mirrors the dynamics of dysfunctional families (and of the family at its core) where unreliable narrators abound #booksky #bookreview #mentalhealth

blogtherapy.substack.comWho Gets To Tell Whose Story?Mental illness in Toby Lloyd's debut novel, Fervour, plays out like a game of broken telephone.

ESPRIT DE CORPS - His partner Émile Mollins can't be there -- he's in another apartment with another man who's showing him a dead dog under the radiator. “It's dead,” Mollins says. “No,” the man replies. “I touched him. He's warm.”
