I love this but I also desperately need more browser based apps to be fully compatible with Firefox. Looking at you @worldanvil.com and @inkarnate.com.

Within #TTRPG that use alignments, good can do evil, and evil can do good. It's the circumstances and motivations that differ. Good can do evil out of good intentions, zealous dedication, or ignorance. They either don't understand the situation or ignore the ramifications of their actions. 1/3

2/3 Evil can do good out of self interest, when it matches their plans, or just because they feel like it. Maybe it's amusing to them. It's entirely possible for an evil adventurer to do good, or even go for ages without their evil nature being detected. But does this mean alignments are moot? No.

3/3 Alignments can still be useful as behavioural guidelines. In systems with absolute alignments and enforcement of them, they can be used to explore the narrative edge of personal belief vs objective truth. They can still have purpose. They just need to be applied to the stories and situations.

Me, this morning: Victory! Another rotation around the sun complete! Also me, this morning: rolls over in bed, hear and feel a weird popping in my shoulder and then I somehow strain a neck muscle. Good Times!

My first five #TTRPG in the order I played them: 1. AD&D (single session) 2. TMNT & Other Strangeness 3. Ninjas & Superspies 4. Heroes Unlimited Revised 5. AD&D 2nd Edition At least this is what I think it was? It was a ways back. ๐Ÿ˜…

My first five TTRPGs in the order I played them: 1. Everyone is John 2. D&D 5e 3. D&D 4e 4. Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf 5. Slayers

Things literally exploded after AD&D 2nd Edition though. - Vampire: The Masquerade - Rifts - Robotech - Macross II - Heavy Gear - Mage: The Ascension - Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Traveller: The New Era - Cyberpunk 2020 - GURPS 3rd Edition - Shadowrun 1st & 2nd Edition It was awesome!

Impossible Magic was so good I went back for a second read after the review because @paizo.com was on ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ creatively. I was happy with the Magus class getting their remaster reboot, but damn... Their Necromancer concept is amazing. The broke the pattern and it's so, SO, good! #Pathfinder #TTRPG

The Avatar series is one of the sci-fi universes I bounced off of, hard. Like, didn't even want to see, and still have not seen any of them. Just a complete and total "nope" at every level. Like, I have given some *heinous* movies a chance, and these ones? Nope.

The James Cameron Avatar films answer the question: what if a nature documentary that had no plot or characters somehow managed to be very racist?

One of the worst things I've heard at the deli counter came after the attendant cut 212g of Lyoner after I asked for 200g. Her eyes got huge and it was obvious that she was preparing for something, then her coworker touched her arm and said: "Don't worry, he's a good one." And I hated that...1/2

more business owners need to be like this

2/2...because it indicated that people blew up so regularly about a few grams of fucking DELI MEAT that the staff recognized and remembered customers who didn't. People need to chill the fuck out and remember how to be decent human beings. Because shit like that shouldn't be normalized.

This is fantastic!

This morning, the D&D team and Magic's Studio X informed our leadership of our intent to unionize. We love the games we make and the work we do, and unionizing is how we protect that work. unitedwizardsofthecoast.com/news/dnd-stu...

This was part of why the HP series gained a lot of surprise traction with Boomers, especially in the white parts of the Commonwealth. It cheerily dredged up the old boarding school adventure formats and tropes they were raised with and sprinkled some magic on them.

Like, this is a whole subgenre of UK based literature. And it was oddly impactful in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand where those kinds of schools were rarer, presenting a kind of idealized imperial state.

I've seen a lot of #WH40k animations lately, official and fan made, and a lot of the official ones haven't grabbed me. Except one. Kill Lupercal isn't just a good mini series (3 episodes), it's just good. A lot of WH40k stuff fails, utterly, to grasp the military aspects (ironic, right?), but...1/2

2/2...Kill Lupercal is an amazing military drama. Princeps Orla Gemnon is amazing as a character, and her interactions with the other characters in and out of battle are *chef's kiss*. Plus you get to watch titan on titan battles and it's goddamn epic.

People (read: chuds and racists) are freaking out because John Stewart made his own oath in the Lanterns show. There have been multiple "oaths" used by members of the Green Lantern Corps for literally DECADES. And, canonically, Hal Jordan invented the classic oath from nothing.

The slow death of bowling alleys through the '90s and into the '10s because the Silent Generation and Boomers wanted to restrict where teens could exist was legitimately damaging.

headfallsoff@headfallsoff.com

bowling is such a genius social event. the exact balance between like 10% activity to provide purpose to the 90% hanging out and drinking. bowling was the original friendslop

People: I wonder what #TTRPG creatives are up to on a Saturday? Probably writing or planning some epic art. TTRPG Creatives: *folding the giant laundry pile and wondering how much creative time they can get in before it's time to make dinner*

"How did you get into ttrpgs?" A bizarre series of events involving Final Fantasy on the NES, a friend whose dad owned AD&D and Traveller, and a buddy's dad's friend who had pretty much all the best of Palladium's mid to late '80s books, and a profound lack of supervision or guidance by anyone.

Ghoula RPGs@gilarpgs.bsky.social

"How did you get into ttrpgs?" This isn't even a joke: professional starcraft

I'm not even kidding about the lack of guidance. We were literally learning how to play from the terrible "examples of play" written in the books. Our learning curve was warpy and styles were highly experimental. At one point we had Heroes Unlimited, VtM, and Traveller: TNE all running all at once!
