Good news but important to remember that this student, along with 114 others, has undergone months of additional stress and anxiety because Jim O'Callaghan & the Dept of Defence 'unlawfully and irrationally' denied them study visas. www.rte.ie/news/courts/...

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

No TDs should be allowed on the Internet until they can pass basic social media stress tests. I'm being 100% serious. We can't afford ministers making decisions after getting piled on on social media cause theyve rotted their brains and connection with real people by spending too much time on twittr

I have not yet logged the 1957 Abominable Snowman starring my best bitch Peter Cushing, but it was tremendous.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday! Time to post your #LastFourWatched ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿฉธ

My address was included in my emails - have at it, lads!

Simon McGarr@tupped.bsky.social

I wanted to phone so they could hear my voice and know I was not a bot, but your emails or letters can also have real impact. Just make sure to let them know your address, because that is what will make them pay attention to a Verified Voter. Check this out: www.contactyourtd.ie

An excellent thread. I have just dispatched emails to all three of my TDs (FG, SF, Labour) and will follow up by phone if nothing is received by Tuesday.

My mother and sister both have careers I would describe as requiring professional-grade empathy. I consider them both experts at it. Many times, Iโ€™ve seen them educate people on the importance of respecting the bodily autonomy of children, most often via the advice: do not force them to hug.

This government, who moved with rapidity to remove this campaign from circulation, targeting a charity with attacks on their credibility, responded earlier this year to the mass production of non-consensual sexual imagery on X with little more than a shrug.

Done. You donโ€™t have to be as articulate as Simon. Just let them know that you find it concerning that a minister seems to be taking his marching orders from Twitter and has come out in favour of touching children without their consent www.contactyourtd.ie

Iโ€™ve slept on it now and when I woke up, I was still still mad about it. This morning, Iโ€™m going to ring the constituent office of my local FF TD and tell him just how mad it made me. Then Iโ€™m going to call the constituency office of my local SF TD, and ask if Matt Carthyโ€™s support is their view.

www.contactyourtd.ie is a really great resource, where you can find who your local representatives are, and register your opinion on Jim O'Callaghan's recent comments and actions.

It makes me deeply uncomfortable that the Minister for Justice has used his Twitter account to create an online pile on of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. It also appears to me a dangerous precedent that this minister, and his dept. have instructed the DRCC to remove content that he disapproved of.

We can fart around all we like pretending he's some sort of serious politician, but what has actually happened is that his brain has been cooked on X and he will never have a reasonable thought ever again. He is a grave danger to Irish society, and needs to be removed from his post.

1. A minister should not be able to censor the work of an NGO or advocacy group. The point of NGOs is to challenge, influence policy or act in the interests of their issue. 2. No one should touch a child without consent. 3. Jim O'Callaghan wants to be in the media every day this is a tactic.

In one afternoon FF/FG ministers came down like a tonne of bricks on a rape crisis centre when they spent weeks hiding while Musk's Nazi website they use was producing CSAM. Like many of you, I really really hate these bastards.

This did less than nothing for me, I think I needed something with more pace and gore tonight. But glad everyone else had fun! Hopefully better luck next month. #BeyondFriday

Some context for colleagues outside Ireland: over 300,000 people are on strike today. That's over 11 per cent of *all* people working in the state.

Kevin O'Sullivan@kevinkosullivan.bsky.social

"Daddy's not working today, he's on strike" - one of my primary school boys to my wife, this morning. Solidarity with his teachers and with colleagues across the public sector in Ireland taking industrial action across so many sectors today. www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

There's a picket outside a medical office across the road and if the ceaseless volley of toots from passing cars is anything to go by, this strike has PLENTY of popular support

Tomorrow is now today. Support workers like you. Don't cross that line.

Philip O'Connor@philipoconnor.bsky.social

Tomorrow will be a good day to find out who you can trust politically in Ireland. Anyone not on the side of the striking public service workers is not to be trusted, and they need to be told that by the people close to them (that means you) - otherwise, nothing will ever change.
