Hey MAGA folks: The following two ideas are mutually exclusive: - we obliterated Iran's military effectively "defanging" them. - Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz using the threat of military force. Both things can't be true. And the Strait is definitely closed.

It's worth mentioning that NATO is an anti-aggression pact - that is to say it's a defensive alliance. If one gets attacked, everyone comes and helps. It was never meant to be a "if I pick a fight you have to come help me."

It's not just US farmers. Like oil, even though we don't use a lot of the fertilizer that comes through the strait, the loss of 1/3 of the global supply is pushing up costs for everyone. The leaders of Iran are willing to let their people suffer to collapse world markets. Seems like we are too.

Trump has lifted Russian and Iranian oil sanctions. That is money that will go directly into terror attacks and continuing the war in Ukraine. This was only ever about being popular. Trump through he would lift sagging approval by attacking Iran a la Bush in 2001. Now he's panicking.

Note: The countries of the world have only said they rejected a coalition with us. I expect they are working together on their own solution. It's in everyone's interest to open the Strait of Hormuz again. This is why no one attacks Iran.
