Well I thought it was interesting. Mostly about Cambridge. phil@philrodgers.co.uk / https://linktr.ee/philrodgers

A bit sad to see the Fitzwilliam Museum charging for exhibitions after so many years of free admission to them. Perhaps inevitable in these straitened times, and yes there are some concessions, but not everyone will be able to shell out £16.

The Corporation's website promises that the agenda and papers for the next board meeting on 2 December will be published a week ahead of the meeting. Agenda items are likely to include "Project Eagle", whatever that is.

I’m sure this will be an interesting talk - as a software developer I often wonder what AI could mean for the next six months. Martha Lane Fox very nearly died in a car crash in 2004 so would perhaps regard perishing in a robot apocalypse as a bit of a bonus.

In particular, I cannot imagine councillors being overjoyed by the suggestion that they should give up their members' room so that it can be used for extra desk space for council staff, and instead hold informal meetings in the café.

The city council election in Abbey ward in May looks to be more uncertain than expected, as ex-Green councillor Elliot Tong announces he will be running as an Independent.

I’m excited to announce that I’m running to represent Abbey as an independent in the upcoming city council elections 🗳️ I’ve really enjoyed planning the first stages of my campaign! Send me a message if you want to get involved ✊

Someone has built a website attempting to identify where every MP and councillor in England and Wales stands on the Green Party's "Zionism is racism" motion. In Cambridge it lists only Petersfield councillor Kathryn Fisher as supporting the motion. zionismisnotracism.co.uk/councillors/...

zionismisnotracism.co.ukGreen councillors on Cambridge: where they stand on "Zionism is Racism"The 12 sitting Green Party councillors on Cambridge, each with a page: where they stand on the Green Party's "Zionism is Racism" motion, and an email to ask them. 1 backed the motion.

Apparently the site was built by a single individual. While it's clear that a lot of work has gone into it, AI-assisted development certainly makes this sort of campaigning website a lot easier to put together, and we are likely to see a lot more of them. zionismisnotracism.co.uk/who-made-thi...

zionismisnotracism.co.ukWho made Zionism Is Not Racism: one British Jew, no organisation, no fundingThis website was made and is run by one person, a British Jew born in London and living in the East Midlands, as an individual: no organisation is behind it and it has no financial backing of any sort...

The Apple Day event at the BotanicGarden on Sunday has been cancelled because the drought this summer means there aren't enough apples.

The Lib Dems are not happy about Labour's motion on SEND, with a press release "accusing Labour of trying to rewrite history on a service they oversaw until last year, while their own Government continues to hold Cambridgeshire’s children back".

I'm sure you will be pleased to hear that the newly-constituted University of Cambridge Greens society is holding a regular event called Wine and Wokeness.

Despite the trend for young people to be more abstemious, Cambridge's student political societies still feature alcohol prominently in their events. Conservative students have Port & Policy meetings; for Labour it's Pints & Policy, and the Liberals have Spirited Discussions.

The dulcet tones of Julian Clover drifting across north Cambridge from what must be a really quite impressive sound system on Midsummer Common for the Cambridge 10k. Good luck to everyone running!

Mind you, I can't help thinking that we could do with some live balaclava recognition technology. Here are the results of similar deployments in Peterborough earlier this year - 56,534 faces scanned, 10 alerts, 4 "arrests/disposals"

Green councillor Elliot Tong is seeking re-election in Abbey ward at May's city council elections.

Earlier, I put myself forward to once again represent Abbey for the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social 💚 I absolutely love my ward and hope that members will allow me to continue to represent them 🗳️ Photo: 🦆
