@cameronyardejnr.bsky.social seeing this makes me wonder ... have you ever considered a banging TV title sequence list. I know that there is only one winner - The Prisoner - but there are still some other mighty intros out there. Especially In Bed With Medinner.

I don't think anything symbolises the sheer amount of money sloshing around in eighties television than the incredibly elaborate, fully hand-animated title sequence to Bazaar. A daytime programme about how to save money and make-do-and-mend.

Wasn't last week's #RadioTimes cover beautiful? Well, it nearly was ... if it wasn't for those wretchedly oversized coverlines. Here's what it could have looked like as a 1970s/80s edition. Really lets the gorgeous artwork shine. (Orginal image © Radio Times - this is just for fun)

I was out of the country last week, so missed this in the shops. Who was the artist? It's gorgeous and looks like it could have been Jeff Cummins, but I don't want to assume.

Here is this week's #RadioTimes cover, which would have been a stunning piece of photography had it not been for those weird oversized coverlines. Here's what it could have looked like as a 1970s/80s edition. (Orginal image © Radio Times - this is just for fun)

The #traitorsUncloaked really is a rubbish format. Podcasts as BBC One telly is just stupid. There is no life to this - no wit, no swagger, just talking heads. It needs to be more like the Adrian Chiles years of You're Fired, or left to BBC iPlayer Radio #Traitors

This. Exactly this. Gave me nightmares for years. *Shudder* aLT text: Dr Who and Striker remove a panel from a wall to reveal a monster with big green eyes and sharp claws bursting through.

I should have compared them side by side. I HATE the gigantic coverlines. Less is more! ALT text: first image the actual cover of the Radio Times for 10-16 October 2026. Second image a mock-up of what it would look like in the 1970s/80s style.

Just finished a rewatch of Life On Mars / Ashes To Ashes. Minor spoilers ahead. The final episode is both satisfying and unsatisfactory. I don't like seeing Gene helpless. A lot happens without full explanation - just implication. Should have been ambiguous? Makes me pine for another series

He doesn't look a day over 45... back in 1969, this is what the Daily Mirror thought Prince Charles would look like when he was middle aged.

If you want to know why TGJones is closing stores and struggling, just look at this mess. You can't reach the top shelf, or see what is being sold. Then you can't see what is on the bottom shelf as it's hidden from view. Its USP is treated so badly. Madness #TGJones #WHSmith

Was reflecting last night on the ongoing validity of the #licenceFee and the need for us to pay for #PublicServiceBroadcasting: something struck me ... the BBC is older than television. Auntie started in 1922, the licence fee started in 1923 and is based on the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1904.

I've said this a few times this week - the Beeb needs to adopt an Ally Pally mentality. Find studio space and give people permission to create in it. Low budget, rough around the edges, theatre, comedy, plays, drama, lectures, book at bedtime ... Just make stuff and see what sticks.

Anyone who sees this and cannot join the dots between the end of the BBC and the end of the UK’s world renowned TV industry… frankly, I despair… We need change, yes. We need to get good at making low budget risky TV again, absolutely. But axe it and say goodbye to anything but mid Atlantic dross.

Absolutely loving the sheer bonkerness of the #LastNightOfTheProms. It's always a joyous celebration of the Proms concert season - one of the best things the licence fee gives us.

In the bizarre world of rail tickets, a friendly train ticketing app gives me a price. Accidentally press wrong button and close the browser. Go back on and the price jumps £20. Do it again and it changes again, but the previous lowest fare has gone forever.

But a pox on train operating companies and ticketing apps for not having a failsafe - they ask for ages of those booking. If the tickets are for an adult and child, they should automatically reserve seats next to each other. They don't. You are pushed to let them choose. Safeguarding issue.

Train travel in the UK: Truly nothing more frustrating that someone refusing to move from the seat you've reserved before it has even left the station at the start of its journey. Now standing in a corridor as a result. Even worse - TrainPal never reserves parent & child seats together.

This jumble sale approach to merchandising of magazines in WHSmith and TGJones infuriates me. News and mags can be impulse purchases, but you need to see the covers to make a snap decision to buy. The stores have a unique proposition on the High Street and they act as if they are ashamed of it.

Almost certainly the last item under Any Other Business before t'pub. Alas #SkiSunday, a show that could have been presented from a Salford broom cupboard using bought in footage rather than expensively made from a ski slope. Killed because Auntie can't see the slope for the skis.
