Costs & benefits need to be distributed fairly! Data centers scar hundreds of acres of local real estate while straining local infrastructure and public services. Pennsylvania’s tax structure needs to be updated to ensure ratepayers are reaping their fair share of profits from these projects.

Protected & regulated Pennsylvania can thrive! Through careful research, stronger protections, and thoughtful regulations, Pennsylvania communities will be able to welcome new investments, confident in the future they bring.

Rural municipalities need more support! Many rural communities lack the staffing and resources to evaulate complex data center proposals. Municipalities need guidance, technical assistance, and planning support.

The loss of farmland needs to be considered! Updated policy is necessary to reflect the generational investment & immovable nature of these farm enterprises when considering landowner & community value.

Pennsylvania needs more time! Policymakers need time to research the impact that these large-scale developments have on our communities and across our state.

Today marks yet another rotten egg-smelling hydrogen sulfide exceedance day thanks to U.S. Steel — the 80th day in Allegheny County this year.

Your phone doesn’t need to be plugged in while you use it. You charge it when it’s convenient, like overnight & it releases that energy later when you’re out & about Electricity, however, is largely used at the moment it’s generated, so supply & demand have to match in real time

✅New York implemented a one-year data center moratorium ✅Texas implemented a moratorium on data centers to further evaluate grid impacts ✅Now, Oregon pauses approval of new air and water pollution permits for data centers through July 2027

There are many benefits of community solar including: making clean energy accessible for more Pennsylvanians, helping make our grid more resilient, reducing pollution, and lowering our energy bills!

How does community solar work? Say a solar farm is nearby. People in the community can sign up to buy or rent a piece of it. The farm makes electricity, & each person who signed up gets money taken off their electric bill based on their share of the power it produces.

Let's say you want to go solar but can't- Maybe you live in an apartment or condo, rent your home, or own a house but can’t (or don’t want to) put solar panels on your roof.

Community solar is a way for people in a neighborhood or community to share one big solar power system instead of each person putting panels on their own roof.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) just rejected most of PJM's, our regional grid operator, plan for connecting “large loads,” such as data centers, to the power grid.

In the latest Emissions Inventory in #AlleghenyCounty, 98% of H2S emissions came from one company — U.S. Steel. Allegheny County Health Department has previously identified that they had no evidence of anyone else but U.S. Steel contributing to these H2S exceedances.

Huge news! The #Pennsylvania State House voted to require our state's largest utilities to add battery storage to the grid. Shout out to Rep. Rivera for leading this bill! #BatteryStorage #CostofLiving @pennfuture.bsky.social
