PCSX2's Hardware Renderer has gained support for AA1! AA1 is the PS2's name for antialiasing, which works by adding partially transparent pixels to the edges of lines and triangles to give a softer edge. Fixes games like God of War and more!

AA1 was originally been implemented in SW renderer for a while (this just adds it to HW). It is implemented by using the vertex shader to generate new polygons for the edge pixels of lines/triangles. Do note that enabling AA1 may significantly increase system requirements!

As such, you can enable it by going to the Settings → Graphics → Rendering → AA1.

Did you know? PCSX2 has a built-in feature to create game shortcuts! It lets you generate shortcuts directly from the app; no manual setup required. Plus, a recent update now lets you add the game icon as well. These QoL improvements should help with organizing your game library!

You can access it by right-clicking the target game on the game list to open its Context menu, and then choosing the "Create Game Shortcut..." option.

Courtesy of SternXD, a new RetroAchievements section has been added to the Setup Wizard, allowing you to login to RetroAchievements during the setup phase. This is optional and you can continue without logging in.

New in PCSX2 v2.7.207: Windows users no longer need to hunt for ffmpeg DLLs anymore to use our built-in video capture feature! The Codec list has also been simplified to help reduce choice paralysis! The choice now comes down to H264, H265 and AV1.

Do keep in mind that GPU-level support is still required for these codecs (AMD AMF, NVIDIA NVENC, Intel QuickSync). Please make sure that your GPU hardware supports the video codec you want to use; otherwise you will have to fallback to CPU encoding, which is slower than hardware encoding.

Here's a very happy 9th birthday shoutout to melonDS, a great emulator made possible through the hard work of Arisotura et al. You may not be 6th-generation to gaming historians, but you're 6th-generation to us. 🤎 #melonds #retrogaming #emulation

What's the best game to enjoy on PCSX2 this Halloween? Maybe more importantly, what's the absolute *worst* game to enjoy on PCSX2 this Halloween? (Snow White and the 7 Clever Boys is cheating, and you will be disqualified.) #halloween #emulation #retrogaming

Additionally, thanks to SternXD's continued work to standardize our Big Picture Mode UI with the traditional Qt desktop one, you can now configure networking and HDD options from the comfort of your couch! #emulation #retrogaming

Thanks to the hard work of KamFretoZ, PCSX2 now has a shortcuts feature on Windows and Linux! If you right-click a game in your library and select "Create Game Shortcut", you can place a custom shortcut on your desktop or in your start menu/application launcher that launches directly into your game!

Our new setup docs are finally out! We hope these set the standard for what's to come in terms of readability, accessibility, comprehensiveness, and polish. #PCSX2 wouldn't exist without all of you, and we owe it to the community to make it as open as possible. #emulation #retrogaming

For everyone who wants to know how stairs work, PCSX2 developers @fobes.bsky.social and GovanifY were interviewed by #FOSS educator Gardiner Bryant to give you a behind-the-scenes look into the world of PS2 emulation. You can read it here: gardinerbryant.com/keeping-the-... #emulation #retrogaming

gardinerbryant.comKeeping the PlayStation 2 Alive: Inside the World of the PCSX2 emulatorFor more than two decades PCSX2 has been the go-to PlayStation 2 emulator, letting players revisit one of gaming’s most iconic libraries on modern hardware. What began as a scrappy open-source project...

Correction: this interview was done by .dash (PerfectDark), not Bryant. This was a miscommunication on this author's part with the members who sat for this interview.

With the release of #macOS 26 (Tahoe) last week, we'd like to hear from the community about any issues you've found. Qt has not implemented the Glass UI style yet, so PCSX2's UI will not line up with the system theme. Our main concerns right now are how UI works and the ability to play games.

Hey, guys, we've decided on one more delay until the 24th. We have issues left to fix (and have identified and fixed a vulnerability), but this is mainly for the blog. To get it just right, we've trained an LLM on @dolphin-emu.org's blogs, but it won't stop talking about Sexy Poker for some reason.

Hey, everyone. We've decided to delay PCSX2 2.4 until June 13th. The testers threatened to hold a mutiny if they couldn't play Deltarune on release day. (In reality, we want it to be as polished as possible since it'll be months until the next major release. We're really grateful for your patience.)

We're excited to announce a tentative release date of June 6th for PCSX2 2.4 and its blog post. Before that, we're doing everything we can to find and squash as many bugs as possible, and we can't do it without your help! If you're ready, come join this final push on GitHub or on Discord! #emulation

Happy 25th anniversary to the PlayStation 2! 🥳 What's your favorite memory with the PS2? #retrogaming

Update: the #PCSX2 wiki and forums are back and working again! Thank you all for your patience. #emulation #retrogaming

The #PCSX2 wiki and forums are migrating to a new web host; thus, the wiki will temporarily be read-only and the forums closed during the migration. This is expected to be done within 24 hours. Apologies for the belated announcement. #emulation #retrogaming

The latest nightly version of #PCSX2 now has signed code binaries on #macOS, so users will no longer have to worry about the security message stating that the package comes from an unidentified developer. Huge shoutout to @fobes.bsky.social for getting this set up. #emulation #retrogaming

Happy I Love Free Software Day! If you use and enjoy free and open-source software projects outside of PCSX2, we encourage you to get involved however you can and tell their contributors how much you appreciate what they do. 🥰 Oh, and also it's Valentine's Day or something too we guess. #foss

The PCSX2 team today has decided to create a #Liberapay as a companion to GitHub Sponsors. This helps keep the lights on and gives our team room to innovate on PCSX2. We highly recommend checking Liberapay to see if other #FOSS projects you use are on there as well! liberapay.com/PCSX2 #emulation

A few of the project members are looking at Qt 6.9 as a way to finally get #Wayland working with PCSX2 on #Linux. We're going to keep testing, but we haven't found any problems so far. Qt 6.9's final release is on 18 March. We hope to see Wayland support in the coming months. #emulation #retrogaming

Hi, everyone. In addition to our Mastodon account, PCSX2 now has an official BlueSky account. We know a lot of our userbase is here, and outside of technical support, for which we recommend our Discord server, we're happy to be both here and on Mastodon for all things PCSX2. #emulation #gaming

You are up to date.
