This photo by Abbie Rowe from FDR's funeral train is why I write Field of View. I'd never seen it before going down the rabbit hole of Presidents lying in state in the Capitol Rotunda. The ghostly reflections have an American Gothic vibe.

Also, the sweater Lee Harvey Oswald was wearing when Jack Ruby shot him was BLACK, not maroon.

There's a viral tweet kicking around comparing these two photos: Luigi Mangione by Charly Triballeau and Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Beers. It's a perp walk. That's where the similarities end. patrickwitty.substack.com/p/the-perp-w...

How/why? I was researching a photographer, Ira Schwarz, who made an image of Hinckley after his arrest and along the way, I discovered that Ira had won a World Press Photo award for his version of Mr. T with the First Lady which then led me to Diana's photo, and so on.

Here's the photo the @nytimes.com used with a story about Luigi Mangione's extradition. Again, not a slight on the photographer, Rachel Wisniewski. The editors are choosing not so show his face. I do not understand photography anymore.

The @nytimes.com published a 3000 word article about Luigi Mangione and this is the photo they went with. Bizarre.

The @nytimes.com is deliberately choosing not to show Luigi Mangione's face, just as @kenklippenstein.bsky.social reported. Here’s the photo (by Rachel Wisniewski) they picked for their latest story about Mangione. This is so weird.
