A must read! “What fascinated me most however, was the social context in which it happened. This was a remote corner of Scotland where people from Wick – only half-jokingly – considered those from Thurso, a mere 20 miles away, to be foreigners.”

Remember that we have elections in Scotland and Wales tomorrow, and don't let anyone put you off voting by telling you that it's meaningless or 'boring'. There could be a political earthquake in Wales this time around, and Scotland doesn't need people dismissing its outcome. 🗳️

An explainer article I publish last week explaining the Adicional Member System in Scotland’s electoral system. In it, if a specific party does very well in the constituency vote, it is much less likely to get a regional seat, so the final vote gets balanced.

Why David Edgar’s ‘Destiny’ could be the most important thing you do this bank holiday weekend One of the most influential political plays of the twentieth century returns after 50 years with a powerful warning about fascism | Ben Dickenson Ticket link in replies @benjitoon.bsky.social

as a mother. Not allowing someone to choose a subject due to results in prelim is awful. Worse, when the final result is successful and even so, the choice can't be re-considered. This is based on the fact the subject is not fundamental to the career choice. However, these are 15, 16 year-olds! (2)

So are they not allowed to change their minds in a later stage? This is to be withdrawing youngsters from knowledge and completely underestimating their freedom of choice schools preach. This doesn't stimulate youngsters to enjoy studying, to pursue their desires. Back to Dr. Pam's article:

bylines.scotElection 2026: children in Scotland – the next five years - Bylines ScotlandWhat’s next for children in Scotland? Party manifestos reveal shared priorities – and deep divides on education’s future

A must read from @dangoyal.bsky.social! “The only notable manifesto promise is a policy that puts Scottish Labour right alongside Reform, the Conservatives, and their UK Labour counterparts: “Reform NHS funding so that funding follows the patient.” (p.12 Scotland Needs Change)

bylines.scotElection 2026: what do the Scottish party manifestos say about the NHS? - Bylines ScotlandSix parties, one NHS crisis – yet their manifestos reveal more shared ground than solutions, with only a few willing to face the hard choices

I really hope our youngsters go out there and vote, even for those in the senior years of their secondary school with exams just starting!

Those defending Reform, it’s time to wake up. I wonder what Malcom Offord has to say about it. Anas Sarwar pay attention who you do pacts with in order to spoil @theSNP votes… Brilliant reporting!
