/3 obviously, I’m referring to children designated SEN at Code K here - not EHCPs. I think a study is required around rigour and consistency in SEND designation across a wide range of settings.

I look forward to reading the report. I’ve always had concerns that the no of children with SEN on roll is a poor proxy for measuring how inclusive a school is. For example, some schools may be so inclusive that they have fewer children needing provision that is additional to/different from. /….

The DfE needs to monitor the distribution of pupils with SEND across schools because some are facing ‘unsustainable’ pressure while others are not developing their inclusive practice, says @thenfer.bsky.social research

SEND Conference : SENCOs/ Inclusion Leads not allowed! What if SEND conferences weren’t attended mostly by SENCOs and inclusion leads? What if the room was filled with classroom teachers, middle leaders, senior leaders and headteachers? 1/3 #SEND #support #inclusion #SENCO #belonging

That would be the moment we’d know something had truly shifted. What if Inclusion wasn’t a role but a reality? What if the children weren’t seen as SEND when support is needed? What if the support/ provision was rightly label as SEND? Afterall, that is what is different.

Staff who need accommodations, are they SEND? When I am a headteacher, I will be intentional about nominating staff from across the school, in a range of roles, to attend SEND conferences, because building truly inclusive schools requires shared understanding, shared language and shared ownership.

“Because explicit images are so common now, I think the police view is, ‘Well, that’s another one’” How would a social media ban for U16s impact schools? Plenty support it, but some worry about negative impacts. Excellent @cerysturner.bsky.social article below www.tes.com/magazine/new...

tes.comWould an under-16s social media ban help schools? The government is considering restricting or banning children’s use of social media. How might this impact schools?

My childhood would have been so SO much poorer without an unlimited supply of novels from the local library. And I can’t imagine my adult life without a constant supply of books.

A teacher came to my office at the start of the day. She said, “I really love this hairstyle” We decided it should be a kodac moment ! She did well 😄 Hi-Vis ready for duty. I refuse to be tired and look tired the final week of the term when I can quickly do my hair myself self. #SENCO #SLT

J has come such a long way. From nonverbal up to almost 8 and struggles to access the curriculum to now having a Grade 4 target for Food Preparation! J needs support with retention and as a result we engage in home learning to reinforce key concepts taught each week.

Can anyone recommend any academic essays (that are publicly available online or that you could send me) exploring the parallels between Loki and Ulysses expanding on Snorri's slightly throwaway lines on the topic. Or failing that, general explorations of Troy-as-Asgard? #MedievalSky #ClassicsSky

1988 I experienced my first hurricane where we lost our roof and I walked to a community shelter. I am a 1/6 for my mum who is a single mother and we were lucky to be given a one room house from Food For The Poor Jamaica 🇯🇲 Yesterday my school held a non uniform day to raise funds #Jamaica

Re. the Curriculum & Assessment Review & SEND, @natalieperera.bsky.social sums it up well. "But with no adjustments being made to age-related stages of education, assessments for younger children risk continuing to lead to misidentification of SEND and children being labelled as failing." 1/2

Following the half-term break, consider how our questions shape priorities: “Did you rest?” might be just as meaningful as “Did you go anywhere?” Encouraging balance between activity and rest supports sustained well-being and performance. #halfterm #rest #socialise #MeetUp #balance
