Even if you're not that interested in AI banter, the video about the 'bitter lesson' Ethan one-shot using Claude is a sight to behold.

I wrote about the thing I underestimated most about progress in AI: its ability to self-organize to accomplish tasks. Also, what that means for agents like Muse and Dots, along with a music video explaining why we keep relearning The Bitter Lesson. open.substack.com/pub/oneusefu...

Proof of concept Spine support. Dabbled a bit animating 2D in-tool, which would work but goes quickly out of hand as well...

Interactive gizmos landing in my demo tool 🎉 Below you can see the handling for an overlay operator with move, scale, rotate and pivot. Drags go through the same port-edit path as manual entry and so undo and keyframing come for free.

The primary reason this worked out so well is that operators support standalone- and editor-aware runtime modes. Operators can then implement gizmo interfaces that are handled by the editor's render view. Next up: gizmos in 3D!

Sixty years ago today, the starship Enterprise launched and with it, a vision of the future where humanity had moved beyond its divisions. I was there at the beginning, and I can tell you...

Weeks of work later, I can now make colorful cubes in new and unexpected ways! Unity calls this "Prefabs" and I’ve become much more appreciative of how much stuff has to go right before any of it works.

Got the Burnside engine running in headless mode which got me thinking about doing some basic golden patch render tests on CI. A weekend later, each build now produces this new tab. It's my first time ever doing something like this but my feeling is that it'll pay off in the long run.

Very good, nuanced reading, especially for the haters and fanboys.

AI: Considerations for people who make decisions. There is enormous pressure to deploy AI, and if you believe the thought leadership, you'd think that if you don't get on board NOW you'll be lost forever. Thoughts on what to do now & what things might best be postponed. berthub.eu/articles/pos...

dear imgui 1.92.9 released! github.com/ocornut/imgu... - new liveedit on/off settings and defaults - tables track topology changes - metal4 rendering backend - timestamped settings entries (for cleanup etc.) - 50+ other changes/fixes (fonts, multi-select, popups, backends etc.).

If you're updating to ImGui v1.92.9, be mindful about the changes to textual editing of live values in certain controls. In my case I was better off with the old behavior. Luckily, there's an easy way to restore this behavior both locally and centrally.
