So, my grapheme–color synesthesia + exhaustion made me make an interesting typo; When writing dates for November, instead of "11/8" I wrote "6/8".. Because both 6 - and November - share the same "color" in my mind.

Look.. Nicki Minaj as press secretary is a SOMEWHAT clever bit of brand "recovery" if it's part of a series of fun "What about X celeb?" before introducing the real one (like, having them do a single briefing).. However, I doubt this admin is smart enough to realize that (and who else would do it).

CachyOS has some nice features, but this is the second time I've had updates break my install requiring me to restore from a BtrFS snapshot; Will be glad once I have time to go back to good ole' reliable Ubuntu (weird to be saying that).

ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it

David Gura@davidgura.bsky.social

cool, cool

The hardest thing for me right now on my redesign in progress isn't the code, nor the illustrations: It's the damned color scheme. Part of me was going for a 70s retro faded look, but not only did my latest palette look too much like some AI design trends, it was also a hard no on accessibility.

My review of the VKB STECS Mk. II Max is out now. Go read it and revel in it's wonder with me. Oh, and support me via Ko-Fi. It cost me a lot to put in all those pop-culture references from multiple generations of entertainment. I guess the STECS cost money, too, so.. Expensive all 'round.

nerfedgamer.newsThe VKB STECS Mk. II Max Review - Nerfed Gamer NewsThe VKB STECS Mk. II Max was not the throttle system I intended to buy – I had intended to buy the Mk. II Mini – but it is the one that they had in stock at the time, and while it was more expensive (...

In all my years as an artist, I don't think I've done any single-line artwork before; Since I had to give up traditional drawing it never really occurred to me until recently. In this case it's for (yet another) website redesign, and is all vector anyway (for animation purposes).

It’s even something I’d consider doing on commission for folks, now that I think about it. I haven’t done a commissioned piece in YEARS, just because I’ve felt the effort required was too high requiring a higher cost. This? I can do this at an affordable price.

God, I just wrote a bunch of depressing shit for that new conceptual piece. Time to take a break, have some coffee, and breathe for a bit before I write the accompanying blog post and share everything. Also: I'm sad Zoe's Mixtape doesn't have more tunes, that entire EP was fire.

Good thread on Memo Torres & Izzy Ramirez leaving LA Taco. I don't know what happened. I have spent decades in/around newsrooms. I can assure you: Media biz is constant turnover. Always has been. And you are always likely to keep crossing paths. So just keep rooting for the good people you meet!

Joey Scott@joeyneverjoe.bsky.social

People are blowing up my phone, asking me about what happened at LA TACO. I don't have an answer. Even if I knew everything, I couldn't say why. I'm just a contributor! But the statement reads like there's clearly more to the story.

Shit, I just had a fucking awesome idea for a new web-based conceptual art piece in the age of AI, focusing on awareness. Well, fucking awesome _to me_, at least.. We'll see what the rest of y'all think as to whether it's good or not. Will hopefully have it up this weekend.

So.. we already live in a cyberpunk dystopia, might as well add biopunk to the mix. (Read B-Spine by Cam Winstanley) Fucking bullshit.

Goddammit David Simpson! Just finished Inhuman, and after that long-ass buildup with the characters telling the story you end on a goddamned CLIFFHANGER? Ugh. Book 7 needs to get here now.

The PHP update madness is killing me, and I don't even handle devops. Had to fix some shit broken by a server migration for one client, and another was forced to upgrade platform software that requires a massive update to themes/addons we built.

I slept until 6. I am _still_ tired. Either something is wrong, somehow I took a muscle relaxer without realizing it, or my Gabapentin kicked me in the ass hard last night..

I am now able to take off and land multiple times in a row without breaking anything in the Mi-24P Hind; She gets _real_ wobbly close to the ground in hover, but ultimately I'm at least to the point to where I can take off, fly around, and land on an airfield.. Now to learn nav & weapons.

I remember the days when folks just made weird shit in three.js for fun and for the flex. Now it's people _claiming_ they made it in three.js when really it was fucking Claude that made it. The flex is not earned.

I honestly could not tell you the last time I had steak, but for whatever reason I am absolutely consumed by a craving for steak.. And not just any steak: Sirloin tips with onions and mushrooms. I cannot fathom why this is happening to me right now, but it is, and I hate it.

Ok, I thought the Apache was a squirrely beast, but the Hind? That thing is just on a whole 'nother level. I also miss my IHADSS; Gotta get used to reading actual instrument dials and not having all the critical info right there. Still, first flight attempt was relatively successful..

I'm also flying w/o touching the trim for now so I can get a feel for just how nucking futz this thing is; My calves are tense as fuck after working on the hover. This thing is a breeze when at speed, though. It flies like a damned plane! I still suck at landing, though.

..Successful in that I would've survived the landing and takeoff. May need to adjust curves a bit because I was all over the place trying to take off. Once I was flying? Smooth as butter (esp. at speed). Landing approach was good, although I came down too hard and broke my tail off (classic).

Took it out a second time after adjusting curves and doing some reading; Managed to take off a little better, got my cockpit instruments set to English (since I don't read Russian), and now know what the fuck is going on somewhat. I also managed to hover - WITHOUT hover assist!

Got up from my nap and started pre-planning my controls and doing some light reading on how to fly the Mi-24P Hind.. Chuck's Guides to the rescue! If you've ever wondered what it's like to fly a full-fidelity sim helicopter, this gives you an idea of the 'tism some of us have:

I giggled so goddamned hard at 2 portions in this piece. The first is the obviously giggle-worthy hero image. The second? Well, you'll just have to read the damned piece to find out! (BOOM, headshot) nerfedgamer.news/all-posts/le...

Of course he's connected to Josh Hawley; That pansy-ass poser of a prick just oozes into building those shit-stained connections with people like Tommy.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

I just had a fucking sad realization: I was curious about what we know now about the recent mass shooting/casualty/etc incidents after seeing a news alert for a car driving through a soccer game in Wichita KS, and then thought.. Shit, I'm losing track of how many we've had and the specifics of each.

Fucking masterclass in public speaking, handling hostility, and just being a goddamned decent human being when you have a stage and a microphone.. Especially when compared to practically everybody on the right these days.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Q: Will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood? El-Sayed: Yes. Why are you asking the question? Do you assume that I wouldn’t? Q: Yes, because I have not heard you disavow them yet. El-Sayed: Have you disavowed them? I have not heard you disavow them yet.

First flight finally happened with the new STECS Mk II Max; Took the Apache out for a quick jaunt since I'm the most familiar with it. Fun fact: I forgot that when using a throttle axis for a collective you need to reverse it in settings. That was an.. Exciting hot take-off (that I recovered) :D

Took 30 minutes to plan out my re-mapping from my old omni-throttle to my new STECS Mk II Max for the AH-64D; I've got so many goddamned buttons, switches and levers now that I can add a shit-ton of extra controls on-hand. This is going to be awesome once I get comfy with it!
