The Sadness of the See'er there is a certain sadness in the eyes of those who see the fear and growing madness of knowing what will be they look around and see the world for what it is and will become they dread the fate of little girls and mourn for every son

Replying to @tinyklaus.com

I completely buy the argument that Trump both: Does not care about national security or defense contractors enough to maintain secrecy on their behalf. Expects that disclosure will cement his place as greatest leader on Earth ever.

Goddamn they would be fucking launching an endless stream of TALAFREAKO merch out of a tee shirt cannon every day for the next three weeks if I was even within earshot of his campaign manager for ten seconds. What a gift to be given that sick-ass nickname by the worst guy alive.

We can all feel the compounded height of the three Cosmic Cycles culminating in our time and the subsequent collapse we face. The ecological cycle of Overshoot and Collapse, the Imperial Cycle of empires rise and decline and the Saecular Cycle of the generations are reaching the inflection point.

The environment is deteriorating as the empire is crumbling and the prophet generation that always leads to war is in charge. The trajectory is known. We who see must prepare our minds and be ready to guide any with ears to hear through the coming tribulation.

More and more I think the catalytic question that propels our nation to Total War will involve NHI. Will aliens be our enemy? Will we have to take their tech in order to survive. Will we try to kick them off the planet? Will we be forced to choose sides amongst them? Will we deny their story?

Fitting that software developer is the first career that is wholesale being replaced by AI. They've been writing programs to take people's jobs for decades.

The AI community and those interested in consciousness would be wise to spend some time on Michael Levin's work. Beingness, intelligence, they exist at every level, don't require a brain and take many strange forms. No AI is conscious like us, but nothing else is exactly either.

I'm calling it. A panpsychist worldview demands consciousness be everywhere and that includes inside AI. What kind of consciousness? I have no clue. But I admit it is there.

We invite everyone (nonscientists) to endorse the Declaration of a Planetary Emergency, part of the upcoming World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Third Notice. Add your name and share widely. Endorsement helps show public concern about the future of our planet. forms.gle/vAARd7mv2yS7...

The nature of reality is nested and so certainly consciousness, which makes up reality, is also nested. How else could it be that I am a being who is made of many beings? Wor to the blind man who says the chain of being stops here.

Why is the green band called the corridor of life? Life presumably flourished prior to the Holocene. Shouldn't it be called the corridor of civilization?

What can we do, what should we do, in the face of collapse? Foremost we must confess it. The worst we can do is deny it. Second we must admit what is collapsing. The biosphere, yes. Civilization, yes also. Next we ask, what must be preserved? And there the answer is simple. Life.

@natehagens.bsky.social I think we should work on the terms wide boundary and narrow. I like the framing but it misses that the nested layers of reality aren't necessarily turning in the same direction. In practice it feels like projecting yourself to a possible outcome and then back engineering.

The point is that people are confused when they hear about so many separate, sometimes contradictory processes unfolding, and they deserve a framework within which they can make it all make sense. Our role as communicators, being blessed with the eyes that see, is to find the story they can hear.

And we know that if people have a why, they can bare whatever is. Why is this all happening? That is the question that only the collapse aware can answer because only the collapse aware can admit it. That is the story we must create. What is happening, why, what should we do?

And all these different possible stories we tell are just different frames of reference on different timelines. Maybe we could use phrases like "at the bio-physical level x is happening" but at the: societal, generational, imperial, energetic, planetary or pick your poison.

It is worth pointing out ad nauseum that the purpose behind public executions is to remind the populace that the government has the power to take your life and if you step out of line you could be next.

If Trump wants to seal his name in the history books as the greatest leader of all time he should release what the US knows about UFOs. Disclosure is the ultimate salvation for his sins.

It can both be true that AI is the next embodiment of The Machine which exists to destroy the world and data centers offer good paying jobs that support American families.

The purpose of the Universe is to know itself and thusly it seeks novelty. If we assume that the consciousness that makes up the universe is inhabited by a single being then surely that must be God. How though could it be possible for God not to know themself already? What are the implications?

@racheldonald.bsky.social if you are looking to works of fiction for metaphors about AI I'd suggest Superman villain Doomsday. He was grown by a scientist on a harsh planet, put out to survive (or not) and when he died recreated over and over, growing stronger and more insane each time.

Are eco-terrorists blowing up oil refineries?

Hoodlum 🇺🇸@nothoodlum.bsky.social

Venezuela's Cardon Oil refinery, the country's second largest at 310,000 barrels per day, just unexpectedly exploded and caught fire, forcing a full shutdown. The fire started at a gas line connecting the refinery's diesel hydrotreater and halted the whole plant, including the boilers. #ETTD

I don't have the idea fully formed but essentially the way we train AI reminds me of how Doomsday was created with the repeated failures and improvements and I suspect the way it drove him insane has parallels with what we are seeing in the bots.

The foremost ontological shock of disclosure will be the unseating of humanity from the top of the pyramid of power. When we discover we are like ants to them perhaps we will finalize identity with our terrestrial brothers and sisters.
