Comics haul from Pretty Good Fest today! It was great to see some of the folks I know and meet some new ones. Got there in time to see the Chris Ware & Joe Swanberg conversation, too. prettygoodfest.com

Game Hole Con: Day 4, Game 1 (of 1) - my one and only game the final day of Game Hole was Mothership. It was a module (Red Shift) run by the author so that was really cool. This system is a lot of fun for a one-shot. Great horror, Aliens-vibe

Game Hole Con: Day 3, Game 2 (of 2) - The Silt Verses. Another in the Carved from Brindlewood games from @gauntletrpg.bsky.social, this game thrusts you into the role of god-investigators, policing rogue gods in this universe as you navigate your own complicated relationship in your own worship.

Not the easiest one-shot to run for a con, but the GM managed with style! I did have some trouble shifting my brain into the right gear, but got there before it was done :)

Game Hole Con: Day 3, Game 1 (of 2) - now, Wildsea - what a setting! I’ve raved about this world before, but had yet to play in it. Funnily enough, this was run by someone I know from Chicago. This game really felt the most like we were building it as we went along via collaborative storytelling.

I played a collective colony of spiders inhabiting a canvas mannequin with a brass mask. Until recently, they were trapped in a prison of weird amber when a few hundred years ago the trees grew like lightning and didn’t stop growing, covering the planet and bringing about a cataclysm.

We sailed atop the green canopy of leaves in search of the regional bookmobile, the One Armed Scissor, a library -ship making the rounds of neighboring spits in the area, recently missing. Culture was starting to bloom in this new world, and we weren’t letting it go without a fight!

Game Hole Con: Day 2, Game 1 (of 1) - after three full games Thursday, Friday was a bit of a rest period with only a single game. My introduction to Pirate Borg was decent, but didn’t leave me wanting to run a campaign or anything.

Pirates are ok, but I think I need a bit more than zombie dust drugs to keep the campaign feeling exciting to me.

Game Hole Con: Day 1, Game 3 - Nahual, ¡Por el Cielo o el Infierno, Nos Alzamos! It was nice to play this Mexican game again, even if I was exhausted after a full day of gaming. I even brought my dice bag shaped like a Luchador mask.

The DM wasn’t *super* familiar with the system, but he was excited about the world and characters and that’s enough to make it fun.

Game Hole Con: Day 1, Game 2 - a Mork Borg OSR called Tales From the Tape Deck: Dawn Without a Coffin. It was a vampire game set to a soundtrack where the end of the set was when the sun rises. That was a neat way to add urgency to our actions and keep things moving.

My first time with a Mork Borg game, it flowed quickly and encouraged a lot of creative ideas from the table. I’d definitely play in another MB game at some point

Game Hole Con: Day 1, Game 1 - A Daggerheart adventure called The Marauders of Windfall. Group was a good mix of people who’d played DH before and new players. A good twist left the characters caught in the middle of chaos between 2 factions. It was fun to play with the new character options.

I played a Gnome Brawler (Juggernaut), so that was a fun mix! A tiny dude with tons of armor and the ability to teleport.

Excited to be heading up to Madison this week for GameHole! It’ll be my first gaming con in a bit. Looking forward to playing some Mothership and Wildsea, spending time with the hubby, and just not working. 😴

Good morning. Heres my favorite commission from the batch I did in the hotel room last night. I feel like someone mentioned Rumiko Takahashi yesterday and it came out in the face.

I loved when dad would take me to his league night and I would get lost in the alley’s arcade

In Chicago this weekend? 👀 Come spend Saturday with us at Chicago Indie Game Showcase! We'll also be here hosting a speaking panel with our very own @ironspike.bsky.social! 🎮 If you have a crowdfunding dream, now's the chance to get some advice and enjoy some games while you're at it! #CIGS 🚬⚙️

Bot hell. Order product A. Receive product B. Return it with a description of what happened and am then denied the refund because my return didn’t match the product ordered. Now I got this Magnus Robot Fighter energy welling up..

In other RPG-news, I'm currently obsessing over The Wildsea. Such a cool setting, chock-full of weirdness and the fantastic. My brain is very task-oriented, though, which is at odds with the freewheeling, the-journey-is-the-adventure structure they've made.

“No, that isn’t a shiny beetle under your sheets. It is a chunk of your flaked-off nail polish.” & other horror stories can be yours in this next collection by this horribly near-sighted author 🤓 👀
