Priscian sen va con quella turba grama/e Francesco d'Accorso anche; e vedervi/s'avessi avuto di tal tigna brama/ Priscian hangs around [goes along] with that wretched rabble/and Francesco d'Accorso also; and you could see there ["to see there"] if you had had a desire for such scurf/filth,

A child reading by the hall light at night collapsed in her bed with grief at the Stone Table scene. But ... I don't think Aslan is fictional ... (also don't think the Lion is Christ, rejected that idea even as a kid) ... FOR NARNIA AND THE LION!

Name a fictional character's death you still haven't gotten over. And i relive the trauma every Christmas... 😅😭

Last night's Hunter's Moon, traditional name for the full moon in October. I so loved the phrase I wrote a story around it, beginning the book with its title. Cover of American edition (Abrams).

Good morning Bluesky, folk. Beautiful scroll art. 😍

Ren Yu's 'Landscape' is a hanging scroll painted in 1892. It uses color on paper. Qing dynasty, China.

#WheretheMaskEnds There's so much wrong with this series starting with the dreadful & unbelievable storyline & ML left to do nothing but look gobsmacked & pretty. The production is is pure rubbish. I'm hatewatching. Both leads of the stunning #PursuitofJade took on terrible projects after it.

It was #Dussehra few days ago, the feastday celebrating Lord Ram's victory over the multi-headed demon Ravanna. For all those who are, like me, fighting their inner demons: Jai Shri Ram! Lord Ram abú! May you slay your demons. (Sent by pal in Delhi.)

Someone I follow is back in my soul's home - Indiahhhhhh! ❤️(Ireland is my heart's home. Canada is the home of my voice.)

Post the: Last movie you saw 🎬 Last game you played 🎮 Last show you watched 🖥 Last song you listened to 🎶

Wait! Just rememered this is the last film I saw. I watch so few. Dramas are my viewing passion. #MyHappyMarriage (live action) & #Humint are the only two films I've watched since the pandemic, when I discovered Asian dramas.

An ancient pagoda is proof of the Lindy Effect. The longer it has lasted, the longer it will survive. Still standing long after everything new has fallen.

Royal Guard of Joseon Korea outside the main gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul. You can see tourists in rented hanboks. I was wearing one too. (Palace visits are free for those in hanbok but they truly are glorious to wear.) I was in Kdrama heaven with thousands of fellow Kdrama lovers.

Have a lovely day, Bluesky folk. I've two kinds of painting to do - kitchen inner doors & Japanese bedroom cherry blossoms. A woman's work is never done, as my Irish grandmother often said.

Life is heavy. Then one day, you realize you’ve been pedaling as if it weighs nothing.

That said, why doesn't Faber & Faber stand up for their author, continue to distribute and pay her royalties, and fight against the censorship of the UK government?

Time to boycott Faber & Faber. Genocide is ok. Objecting to genocide is not ok. #FreePalestine #Faber&Faber #PalestineAction

Una Mullally@unamullally.bsky.social

Sally Rooney's books will no longer be distributed by Faber & Faber due to her support for Palestine Action. This is absurd, and part of a broader ludicrousness in British society where solidarity with Palestine is punished in increasingly nonsensical ways, while genocide goes unpunished.

Last stage of Japanese bedroom. Started drawing on my immersion cupboard last night. (Old house built in 1930s.) After sketch is finish, need to do practice run of acrylic paints on paper, mixing black, white and red to get various shades of pinks and greys.

"Finished." Sigh. This year's flu shot packs a punch. Shaky & somewhat nauseous. Also jab was like a giant wasp sting and arm still sore. Nurse said last year's took too long to take effect so they added something this year to kick it off faster.

I am going on #strike tomorrow. In higher ed, state funding per student is about 30% lower than in 2008. The Government’s own acknowledged funding gap of roughly €300m a year is still unfilled; this means bigger classes and heavier workloads- e.g., I have 520 students in my first-year module.

9.9 on Viki. I've never seen a rating that high so soon. Only 5 episodes viewed & it's rivetting, both the romance & the politics. Storyline, acting, directing, pacing, costume, cultural scenes, sets, production values all top quality. Fingers crossed it keeps at this level. #LamentofAutum

Flu shot tomorrow. Needed to check nurse is not on strike as I won't cross a picket line. But GP clinics not affected. Massive public strike to hit Ireland tomorrow. #Unions are working people's only protection against the growing rapacious nature of late-stage capitalism & billionaires.

Weirdest thing has been happening to me lately. Poems. They arrive in my head, like a surprise child. (I feel another one coming on with that.) Never even aspired to poetry. Hardest kind of writing. (Damned sight smaller than a book though.) Will I become in old age - gasp - a poet? #Iamwriting

Is it because I've been 'translating' Dante the past few years? Is poetry infectious? Language is a virus, as William Burroughs wrote & Laurie Anderson sang. Could poetry be also?

For neko lovers everywhere. 🐱

Published in 1887 as part of Kawanabe Kyōsai’s monumental Kyōsai Gadan Gaihen (Kyōsai’s Treatise on Painting, External Volume), this woodblock print presents an observational study (shasei) capturing the varied postures, temperaments, and fleeting gestures of domestic cats (neko).

She's out and about! I've a fairy tale in it (based on a real dream) which the fabulous editor, writer & artist Terri Windling described as "dark, chilling, and wonderful". Will post a pic when my copies land in Ireland. #GreenWomen #Faerie #Fairytales #TerriWindling

Hope you're having a good day, folks. I am. My roof is fixed i.e. waterproofed. A BIG thing in Ireland. Meanwhile, I love the images this gentleman posts. 😍
