the dopamine hit of drafting a reply in a contentious thread that absolutely does not involve me, deleting it, and getting on with my day 🤤

Here's the unspoken thing: the livability of the planet in my middle age depends on a rapid shift in American politics that simply may not happen, and it will be especially unreachable if we do the same concessions to dark money funded doubtmongering on the climate side as we're debating with MAHA

I shouldn't be surprised that the right is like, "don't make grandma pay taxes on her tips! she has to save money for her husband's cancer treatment" and not a single dem will campaign on, "no grandma should need to work, much less to pay for their husbands cancer treatment." and yet!

It doesn't matter who the person is, being alive should mean having food, shelter, healthcare, and a better tomorrow.

Working Families Party 🐺@workingfamilies.org

It doesn't matter what the job is, hard work should mean being able to afford food, shelter, healthcare, and saving for a better tomorrow. We don't work to make billionaires richer. We work to build a better future for ourselves and our families.

Imagine being a Dem politician in the year 2026 and thinking the problem is issue litmus tests and not the lukewarm soup of a platform they've been trying to force feed us for... idk 50 years?

Dems think they're clever with these answers, but they are just increasingly alienating people, because 1) It is obviously genocide, agreed upon by the major reputable international organizations (HRW, Amnesty, etc.) and 2) A supermajority of Dem voters believe it's genocide

so self-identifying as an american is all it takes? sounds like we've got billions of dollars to save, a couple federal agencies to abolish, and many thousands of people to *free* and pay reparations to 🤷‍♀️

JD Vance on Eileen Gu: "I think somebody who grew up in the US, who benefitted from our ed system & the liberties that make this country a great place, I'd hope they'd want to compete w/ the US. So I'm going to root for American athletes & part of that is people who identify themselves as Americans"

in my lexicon the words "boi" and "girlie" are gender neutral. blame it on that midwestern "guys" habit if you must find a root cause.

wishing the bears all the best on getting state funding from Indiana. McCaskey is worth $1.2 billion. it cannot be overstated how much they don't need Illinois taxpayer money.

If you're mad at Dem senators today, best save yourselves some future disappointment and unhitch your 2028 wagons from Newsom. You're welcome.

google ai ad: "instead of talking to the friends you are sitting next to, about the activity you are all partaking in, enter your question into this slop app and regurgitate it's output with confidence so it seems like you know what you're doing" fucking bleak

on the long list of unfortunate side effects of social media is the creation, and proliferation, of the "instagrammable bar" if a venue looks "fun" on social it's probably a waking nightmare in reality

photograph all politicians in this lighting from now on please, it really highlights the ghoul

really fucking tired of the "everything is a business" takes education should not be a business healthcare should not be a business government should not be a business

I have worked "in tech" long enough for Careless People to read as a satisfying, if unsurprising, undressing of the emporers. I think it's an important read for _everyone_ and will be obnoxiously recommending it to everyone I know.

in part because i can never remember "reintegrate", but i'll be damned if this doesn't work on several levels.
