I washed the sheets and such yesterday. When I was putting them back on the bed I discovered a pillow case missing. I have searched everywhere I can imagine. I can only come to two possible explanations: 1) Someone broke in and stole it out of the washer or dryer 2) Pillow Case Gnomes took it

Since I was home all day, it would've taken some serious Charles Litton or John Robie type cat burglar action. That seems pretty far fetched, so I have to conclude it was the Gnomes.

There were some workers trimming/pruning the trees outside the building this morning. In the past, they've somtimes cut (in my opinion) way too much off the one outside my patio. This year they only trimmed the bits that were too close to the building.

After they were done, however, I noticed something in the tree. I don't think Mrs. Mourning Dove is too happy about having her nest partially exposed.

It looks like Mrs. Dovington is gone. I hadn't looked at her nest for a few days, so I don't know when she left. The nest has been empty since at least yesterday morning.

Dear electronic device designers, It's not the 90's. Blue LED's aren't rare, cool things any more. Please stop putting them in everything. Please stop using ones that are 1000 times brighter than the sun, ESPECIALLY in a card reader where they're often going to be blinking rapidly.

Cleaning up some random pictures on the computer... When I was laid off, I had to ship the work laptop back. Normally, they tell you to keep the box in which they originally sent it to you. When I got mine, though, I was still in the office, as was IT, so they just brought it over.

So I asked if should just ship it in the factory box it'd been in. They said no, had to be a FedEx box. It took them ages to decide what to do. In the end, they FedEx'd me an empty FedEx box. Just one problem, though...

Whew. So there was maybe 6 inches of snow on top of the car when I went out to do shoveling a bit ago. While I was clearing things out, another quarter inch or so came down. That's the first of multiple digging sessions today.

Yeah. After 21 years, I'm still playing World of Warcraft. Player housing was recently introduced and some folk have managed to create some really impressive things. Me? The best thing I've managed is to recreate a scene from The Godfather with one of my Dracthyr characters.

I find myself tempted to search ebay for some old Christmas albums. I may be Gen X, but I grew up listening to the lp's my parents and grandparents had.

I finally got around to watching the rest of Dracula AD 1972. Such a 70s movie, with a pretty decent soundtrack. I kept thinking I'd seen the woman who played Van Helsing's granddaughter before, so I looked her up. She played Moriarty's girlfriend on an episode of Star Trek TNG.

Right. This afternoon or evening will be spent watching something that's been on the DVR for a bit. I'm not sure what yet, but the leading contender is Dracula 1972AD. It's been ages since I've seen it, but I'm sure that Hammer did an accurate job of depicting 'hippies' in it.

During my lunch break, I had the tv on. TCM was showing 'The Conquerer,' which I've never actually seen. What little I watched of it confirmed my assumption that isn't a great film.

Gads. It's been...a week... And it's only Tuesday. Lotta work stress. Lotta job insecurity, but there's a possibility on that front that would reduce that, but will also likely increase stress levels.

At first I assumed it was a programmable calculator. Turns out that the 'C' means it's a calculator that had its ROM replaced so that it's a portable encryptor. They were used mainly by Russian banks.

Among the tons of stuff kept stashed away for years at work are these two chairs. I called them the Nickelodeon Chairs, since they look like something one would've seen on a Nick show back in the 90s. They're as uncomfortable as they look.

The accounting people at work have to clear out a file room with documents that go back to, like, the beginning of time. I spotted this absolute unit of a bookshelf stereo sitting on the floor in the hall outside the room yesterday. It was gonna be trashed, so...yoink.

Well shucks. I remembered to bring a CD to work today to try out the drive, but the stereo won't power on now. Sometime since I last turned it on, it apparently died.

There were a couple 'new' blank cassettes I'd found in an empty office a while back, so I tried it in the tape decks. Deck A does nothing at all. Deck B spins only worked with Play, but spewed tape into the compartment.

There's a good chance the belts for the tape decks have turned to goo by now. That could be an easy fix or a nightmare. I don't have a CD at work to try in it. Radio works really well, considering the antenna is missing. This could end up being a little project.

One of the few people who still come into the office knocked on my door. He had a couple pictures of a snake that was down in the parking garage. Naturally, I had to go down to see if it was still there. It wasn't.

Doing some dusting and this was pushed to the back of a shelf. I've had this since the 70s. Sadly, the lil guy who goes in the ejector seat is gone. I suspect that's pretty common

I recently discovered I have the 1953 movie 'Night People' on dvd. When the heck did I get that? It's certainly not a bad movie, but I'm a little surprised I bought a copy of it at some point. It's not the usual kind of cold war spy stuff I enjoy.

You are up to date.
