The thing about RFK Jr is that he’s not just a eugenicist who peddles extreme and dangerous anti-science, anti-vaccine conspiracy theories that cause suffering, pain, and death, but he’s also a vile racist piece of s**t

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Update: Montana will also be cutting coverage of care for trans youth in accordance with Trump's rule. Like Colorado, the tapering period doesn't apply to puberty blockers. Interestingly, this also confirms that Montana Medicaid restarted coverage of gender-affirming care for adults at some point.

Aleksandra Vaca@transiticsnews.com

Colorado & Michigan have become the latest blue states to end Medicaid coverage for trans youth. Solidly blue Colorado will also be IMMEDIATELY shutting off care for all trans kids receiving puberty blockersβ€”despite Trump's rule allowing a 6 month β€˜tapering’ period. This is a complete betrayal.

Reposting because all of my jobs have always come from someone in my network referring me or knowing someone who needs a science communicator 🀞

Related, but I'm back on the job market for full time positions I prefer remote roles, but an amazing opportunity (in a trans-safe locale) would make me consider relocation If you spot any senior science communication roles or adjacent, please let me know!

We will always share our publications with you! For free! And you might even ask questions!

David Shiffman, Ph.D. 🦈@whysharksmatter.bsky.social

Have you ever tried to read a scientific journal article and been told β€œyou don’t have access, pay to download this article?” Did you know that the author of that article gets $0 if you pay? Instead, you can email the author and ask for a free copy! I’d be delighted to help and answer questions!

Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings... One of Grimalditeuthis bonplandi's tentacle clubs is like a little squid hand puppet. They will flap it around, and would-be predators will think they are getting a tasty squid snack, when they really are going to be a snack for a squid. #SQUIDtember

This black dragonfish (Idiacanthus sp.) was spotted at 527 meters (1,729 feet) in Monterey Bay. Black dragonfish are built for life in the darkness of the deep ocean. Their ultra-black skin helps them stay camouflaged from prey like fishes and crustaceans. πŸ‰πŸ–€β

Time for a new school year, and with that, a lot of opportunities for people to introduce themselves. If you’re leading these intros, please include a chance to share pronouns. 14% of sign ups for my workshop use nonbinary pronouns, so you’ve probably got at least one in your group.
