The large scale plants have challenges in terms of up front cost, but I'm not convinced that the small plants will end up significantly cheaper, especially on a per MW and O&M cost. And WEC is a real company that makes real products (sometimes) unlike a lot of the frankly dubious startups
As recently as 2023 there was no UF6 uranium conversion in the US. Now Metropolis Works is 3 years into their restart and expanding, plus a Canadian nuclear startup (from Alberta, interestingly) wants to build a new conversion plant in Wyoming cowboystatedaily.com/2026/10/21/g...

I dug into EIA data and found a growing divide between electricity prices at investor-owned utilities and public power providers. Then @michellema.bsky.social and I visited two towns that show what that divide means for customers on the ground. Read our story here! www.bloomberg.com/graphics/202...

Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your CV? Scientist: I made it in TeX and can't figure out how to remove the gap but I also don't want to get yelled at if I post a question on stackexchange, so I have instead decided to appreciate the gap, which is still there
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your résumé? John Cage:

We're gonna get more than 1,000 MW of new nuclear capacity soon! Uprates are a fancy word for update equipment to get more power out of an existing reactor www.ans.org/news/article...

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.
"Search and rescue teams going on fewer missions in New Mexico despite rising call volumes" Why? Sheriffs & fire depts are trying to tackle missions alone. Even when SAR volunteers, who are unpaid, have different and unique skills, could help. The public loses out. www.ems1.com/search-and-r...
Some fire departments & sheriffs apparently view SAR as a way to get themselves a higher budget for overtime and training. However, they're not actually equipped with the wilderness skills needed for many SAR missions, and then SAR teams are called in much later, sometimes too late. Sometimes never.
If you recreate in the woods you should want all the different agencies in New Mexico from local to state to tribal to be working together when folks are lost or injured in our expansive wildernesses. Sadly, the strength and friendliness of those inter-agency connections vary widely across the state

If I can't bring my coffee or water bottle to a conference room I do not want to be there, or work with people who have such stupid and unwritten rules. Exceptions of course for labs or nuclear facilities but none of these no-beverage hardliners seem to be talking about those situations
I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you’re disqualified. It’s not hard, people.

I think you shouldn't be able to qualify for a $900 million contract from DOE without publicly announcing the type of technology you're using. Until they do I'm going to spread the rumor that General Matter is going all the way back to outdated gaseous diffusion
Did you learn what enrichment method General Matter is using?
