not to be the most annoying person in the entire universe but both these cves are memory issues that rust would have prevented

Hot take: programming is mostly toil. Reading shitty docs, deciphering complex function parameters, fixing bugs in downstream dependencies that you then need to vendor and/or PR. Dealing with pull requests from people who don't understand fundamental data structures or organization.

The masses: "You should be able to clone Pokemon" "I should be able to put Pikachu on my car without licensing" "You should be able to stream Mario games" Also the masses after giving them a small model purely for language translation: "bUtLerIAn jIhAds it StoLE my DeiviAnTART" They do this free

the idea we should accept any degree of totalitarianism so “artists” (read: Disney) get paid is absolutely insane to me

airdrop fully reverse-engineered! works flawlessly on my framework laptop

I am not joking when I say this. Spotify, Apple Music, and streaming in general is over. Bandcamp Fridays is now very, very good. You don't know yet because all Bandcamp Friday bangers circulating today is from 2-3 sales ago. Bandcamp Fridays et al has solved infinite bangers.

still messin' with erik (synth prototype). random technical thread, so i'll open with a vid: as an experiment, all code runs once per '4 samples', at 16khz; the only data type is a float4 ie 4 samples in a row, or a single note: pitch, gate, sequence and sample no (think: tracker cell)

“Tech is inherently political” is not just about ideology, but about power, too. Yielding technological improvements to the adversary will have predictable outcomes. I’m really worried it will lock in power centralization in a way that will be impossibly hard to reverse. It’s already happening.

feeling like an oracle for predicting the success of Linux and Rust and being an early adopter of both

thinking about Warren Buffett's School of thought on market efficiency if the market must improve efficiency to grow, where does that efficiency come from?

so I bought a PS3, bought many games for it, both online and single player. lost online, now they delete my account, and I lose access to everything because I didn't spend MORE of my money on their other hardware? and I have no legal way to play games I bought and paid for? noted :) #fucksony

tech demo: left joystick events are interpreted as a discrete signal, which controls the frequency (x) and volume (y) of a sine wave little clicks heard near are because there's no interpolation on inputs while we only have 7 bit joystick axis data :^) #rust #bevy #gamedev

if anyone's curious what the symbols are: G is for the GHK algorithm, to turn (input) events into interpolated samples. Then we take the G(x) and G(y) and turn it into a polar coord, then the circle-y boi next to it is "angular velocity" which spits out radians/s, then low-pass to block some bs

the battery is a static value, and the "gain knob" here is used as an inverter on the battery, which leads into the "clamp" which uses that value's min and max -- bc angular velocity can be +/- and _that_ leads to the "attenuator" which is just division for velocity / max velocity, to give you a %

ok, but what if we slapped a low pass filter in front of the joystick's angular velocity, clamped it to ~160 RPM, mapped that to the frequency of a sine wave, and then output _that_ to the speaker? that would be a pretty cool tech demo #rust #bevy #gamedev

owo mvp lfo sin wav out via dsp mcu i/o~ mul and add ops for lfo ctl too! ok I'll stop the 3 letter bit now -- weeks of effort are paying off! we can hook a bunch of basic chips together and get a signal out! next time I'll record the audio output too :3 #rust #bevy #gamedev #pixelart #dsp

We should be more brave on saying "Atmosphere Account" regardless of people understand it or not. Just like Fediverse bros did. Atproto can't be a common thing if people are too afraid to say it.

this is kinda so hype ngl I didn't realize there was so much that needed to go into all the routing logic for the UI/UX, but I think I've got most of the kinks worked out x.x that microchip has a closure wired up to it, and the wire colors indicate "types" in a sense ^^ #rust #bevy #gamedev

the first microchip is looking kinda pretty I think I'm gonna want like a 6x6 icon and some bottom-text so that you know what microchip does what #bevy #gamedev #rust

didn't expect to get roasted by an AI recruiter this morning > You meet all the essential requirements, showing strong skills in [...], and technical leadership. While you have explored OS-level development and led initiatives, there’s no clear evidence of team-based solution design yet.

holy shit ns.agency is alive I turned my obsidian notes (in my preferred, somewhat obnoxious theme) into my website don't ask how it happened, but it runs http/3 also it's running on a $4 VM so it's very easy to kill :^)

more on the to-do list: - publishing .well-known :^) - directly exposing the filesystem of the server for funsies - image/video caching, oops - probably getting some interactive/wasm shit on there

Boo!-per Lund@cooperlund.online

Some friends are teaching their baby ASL as an early bridge to speech and they made the mistake of teaching her “want” as a concept. Now she wanders around the house signing “want” all the time as an expression of unfocused desire. They fucked up and made the baby invent the opposite of Buddhism.

I love watching the UI freeze in my notes app because the export plugin is javascript and steals the thread for an inderterminate amount of time. Another export plugin struggles to parse nearly-empty files and then freezes when it encounters a jpg. I can't with javascript anymore.
