Google Maps doesn't know the name of Lake Ontario or the Gulf of Mexico, and thinks that "Spanish Restaurants" include Argentina, Mexico, Peru and Brazilian BBQ joints. I'm a fan of Google, Android and Chrome user for a long while, but those fuckers need to remove their heads from their asses.

Much of SIGNAL INTERUPT is built from things that barely happen. A distant footstep. A hand pressing against the other side of the screen. A sentence appearing that nobody asked for. The trick is leaving enough silence between them for people to wonder whether they really saw it.

SIGNAL INTERUPT is still evolving while people play it. The terminal is learning how to recognize witnesses. The network is becoming more afraid of them. And somewhere inside the machine, a human voice still believes all of this ends with an escape. twitch.tv/nrek

SIGNAL INTERUPT gives you a blinking cursor, damaged fragments of information, and the uncomfortable suspicion that something behind the screen is listening. The audience has to discover how to speak to it.

The most interesting part of building SIGNAL INTERUPT (to me) has been watching people invent theories I never anticipated. Some are completely wrong. Some are better than what I originally planned. Occasionally, the machine changes because they were clever enough to surprise it.

SIGNAL INTERUPT begins with an abandoned terminal waiting in the basement of Twitch. Nobody explains why it is there. Nobody tells you what to type. The machine simply notices that it is no longer alone. Most games teach you their controls.
