Does anyone like Stephen A. Smith being on their television? I've never heard a single person tell me they like his commentary or that they find him clever or insightful. He is likely ESPN's second highest paid commentator. Why? What does he provide?

Just a reminder that even if Deshaun Watson is good at football again, he's still a sexual predator and it's gross that the NFL lets him play and it's gross that the Browns employ him. Celebrating his wins makes it very clear that you think your football fandom is more important than women's safety

Hey podcaster, content creator and game designer friends. If you have a video game you are particularly passionate about, and would like to come talk about on my new video game podcast, please let me know. Can be an old game or a newer one.

I love a lot of old classic wrestling. But I do not care what Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Brett Hart, Jim Cornette, Eric Bischoff and all these other old timers think about modern wrestling. Artforms change and evolve. Classics do in fact go out of style and I wish they did it quietly.

Why are this year's NFL rivalry jerseys so much more subdued than last year's? I loved the bold takes we got last year but it feels like this years teams got shorted in comparison.

Whenever I see content featuring Emo Music on the internet these days it's mostly featuring bands that nobody considered part of emo when that genre arose. A lot of the time it's mostly pop punk bands. At some point the term emo was successfully rebranded to represent completely different music.

My favorite way to describe the deaths of any horrible conservative monsters is to say that God struck them down. Conservatives love it when I do this. "Oh... so God finally struck Lindsey Graham down for his wickedness huh? That's too bad."

I'm about 20% into Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay, it's my first book by them and wow. I thought I was falling out of love with fantasy but Kay's writing is really incredible. Compared to the drab prose of Sanderson and his ilk, this is really amazing stuff, and I wish got more accolades than it does.

Wicked Loom will be at Gen Con this year! We have some games to pitch but we’re also looking to meet with publishers who might be looking for something specific that they’re not finding through normal means, or who need development work.

Tom MacDonald changing his Nazi grifter dog-whistle rap music into Klansman grifter dog-whistle country music is the most expected and boring yet utterly hilarious thing he could do. It's easy to trick people who have no critical thinking skills I guess.

I get that it's a perfect metaphor for his presidency or whatever, but at this point it's also a perfect demonstration of the largely aesthetic issues that liberals will waste time and energy on, even in the face of oncoming existential disasters.

I finished reading Edith Wharton's The Age of Innocence yesterday and it instantly became one of my favorite books of all time. Sometimes the classics are classics for a reason. I've never seen the Scorsese film based on it, so I'll have to check that out soon.

The first true wave of fully AI generated shows and movies is about to land and I just want to remind everyone that if you watch any of it, you are a loser with the worst taste imaginable. You like corny soulless garbage. You lack personality and substance and your friends all secretly hate you.

The chuds are so mad that the new God of War game has a female protagonist. Sony Santa Monica had a genuinely impressive reveal for that game and these idiots are trying so hard to sell the lie that it looked boring and bad. The grifters are so predictable.

I'm glad that Magic has gone the route of Fortnite with all its crossovers because it has completely broken the cycle of me getting back into the game every few years. I'm glad it works for other people, but it is decidedly not for me.

My fellow nerds, it's okay to be critical of things and still enjoy them. I am enjoying Dungeon Crawler Carl, but it's so weird how you can't say anything critical about it without summoning a phalanx of people who fervently proclaim that it as flawless and that actually I must just be stupid.

I finished the second Dungeon Crawler Carl book... I am not as in love with this series as most and I find it annoying how criticizing it in any way is meant with this weird fervent defense that it is perfect in every way even though I think there's some weird sexism stuff that should be discussed.

I will probably keep going for now though because I think that the latter half of the book contained some really good character work even if it was buried underneath the incredible mess that is the plot of these stories.

I'm not saying this just to be contrarian or provocative, but I've tried to get back into basketball this last year and the WNBA is a much better sports product than the NBA currently. It's more physical, there's less flopping, and there's actual mid-range shooting.

Just caught up on Double or Nothing. That Takeshita/Okada match was amazing. Felt like we got the NJPW version of Okada for the first time in quite awhile.

I'm not sure how fruitful Licensing Expo will be for Wicked Loom, but I am learning some things, and I think once we have some completed projects out in the world there might be more to gain at this convention.

I was hoping to make another post on Substack before leaving for licensing expo but I got too busy. I will have a post about board game licensed from video games, and how I think we could make them so much better.

I have arrived in Vegas. I hate it here. I'm going to get a steak and then sit in my hotel room and read. I'm looking forward to Licensing Expo starting tomorrow though.

There's this style of Youtube video in the video game space that boils down to "A reviewer rated this game differently than I would have... What's really happening here?" Insinuating there's some cosmic phenomenon going on rather than just a difference of opinion. I hate it. I hate it so much.
