If we could get endangered wildlife to run around a race track they'd have a better chance at getting support from this government.

Horse and greyhound fund up €3m in the budget, up to €102m - split €81.6m horseracing, €20.4m greyhound racing. In 2020, the fund stood at €84m, so it's gone up 21% over the past six years...

No extra funding for nature, carbon tax U-turn – the Government is clearly walking away from its climate, nature & energy security commitments in Budget 2027. Great to see coverage of our reaction to Budget 2027

Ah, right. No moves for reduction in public transport costs, or expansion of bus and train routes; no push for investment in housing, healthcare or regeneration of rural towns and villages. Mé féiners exploiting justified anger and hurt, to turn people against each other. #spéirghorm #ireland

The silver washed fritillary evolved to lay its eggs in the bark crevices of oak trees. When the caterpillars hatch, they drop to the ground and seek out dog violet, the plant they evolved to eat. No oak or violet, no silver washed fritillaries. Get it? That's why native species matter: evolution.

Bus Eireann charging 2 of us €15 single from Cork to Macroom really shows how much this country cares about getting people out of cars No option to buy return on bus Bus 3/4 empty If we'd a car it would cost €11.00 return on fuel 6 times price This government hates public transport #speirghorm

“If they were serious about expanding public transport services, a lot of which are ready to go, then there would be a capital budget to meet it. There isn’t.”

The Journal@thejournal.ie

Former transport minister and Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has hit out at the upcoming increase in bus and train fares for adults and accused the government of not properly investing in public transport. jrnl.ie/7151977

So the commuter who helps reduce carbon emissions gets penalised while those who held the country up to ransom have been rewarded. Meanwhile we’re hurtling towards a climate crisis as global heating gets worse and worse.

RTÉ News@news.rte.ie

Commuter groups have described increases in public transport fares as "absolutely unacceptable", accusing the Government of asking bus, rail and tram users to "in effect" cover the "astounding cost" of an extension in cuts to Excise Duty on petrol and diesel

Despite years of studies and discussions the fortunes of the hen harrier have yet to turn a corner. The NPWS told me that a "step change" will be needed in how we manage the landscape and that recovery is at least a decade off. www.irishtimes.com/environment/...

If I read one more reference to 'gold plating' of EU law in Ireland....Can anyone show me the evidence? Should we look to the over half our rivers and lakes polluted? The trend which is getting worse? The 25% of our most pristine waterbodies now lost? A 🧵 www.irishtimes.com/ireland/hous...

The extremely remote, deserted pre-famine village of Coimín na Gaorthaidh, meaning "commonage of the wooded river valley". Almost no trees now remain. The clues to the ecological catastrophe that has befallen the Irish landscape are so often in the place names.

The end of environmental public interest litigation? In a highly Trumpian move, the Government yesterday signed new regulations which will all but bring an end to public interest environmental litigation in Ireland. More: www.antaisce.org/news/the-end... #environmentaljustice #environmentlaw
