CSS Grid is now enabled by default in Servo 🎉 One of the most powerful web layout systems is now available in an independent Rust web engine. It's powered by the library Taffy & enabled thanks to Nico Burns. A huge milestone for CSS layout in Servo!

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software. Just fuck you. Fuck you all. I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

copyparty is great, personally started using it on my homeserver a while back when i could not figure out a good reliable way to transfer files between my home server and mac

This is an absolutely inspiring and exciting bit of technology, one of the best nerdy and useful bits of code I’ve seen in a long time, made as a labor of love by a truly great hacker, not as a commercial project but just to make it easier for everyone to work with files. youtu.be/15_-hgsX2V0

TIL: uint (unsigned ints) should not be used for merely representing positive ints. only use them when their bitwise operator or peculiar arithmetic operators are required #go

explanation: it’s easy to make mistakes because of integer overflows. this is the reason why len returns a signed integer, if it were a unint, in the code snippet below, the value of i will always remain positive because i will overflow. example from The Go Programming Language book :)

I'm proud to announce that GoBridge is now officially sponsoring the TinyGo project with a $25k EUR grant. The project needs more help. If you use the language please consider supporting the project. DM me for more information. #golang

Got to be great for business for Deel knowing CEO is unfindable by the court As a reminder Deel handles payroll and HR - which makes it a high-risk business vendor which requires high trust. Cannot imagine new customers signing that hear about this lawsuit and court troubles… tcrn.ch/42JQ4kH

do truly real-time translation systems even work? i cant imagine conversing in English <-> German. a lot of times verbs in German go to the end of the sentence and you can't translate until the sentence is finished...

PSA: the best way to encourage maintainers NOT to deal with an open issue or PR is to ask "any updates?" GitHub is the source of truth. All updates are there before your question. If it's important to you: create a better reproduction, share new use cases, contribute test cases, review tradeoffs

while usually I enjoy PG’s essays, this article felt wrong on so many levels if anything, the recent events drive me to work harder on myself and help minorities when I can

Paul Graham's latest piece is the hottest piece of garbage he's ever written -- which honestly is really saying something. But I take solace in the HN comments, the most upvoted of which observes that his mind has turned to mush. news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4268...

aliro — the new smart door standard has its name taken from Esperanto meaning "access", using Esperanto strangely feels like a good choice.

advent of code: love seeing the same solutions in different languages the rust-y functional programming stuff looks so amazing! 🦀🤯

i have been detoxing from all the other content platforms except bluesky and i have a good feeling about it. my attention span while reading books has already improved :D

this interface is now lost in time but shoutout to the time i spent way too much time getting the springiness of this interaction just right tab 1 is before and tab 2 is after:

there are other platforms like YouTube which I can use, be engaged, actually absorb some quality content and still be happy with my life. this is why I took a break from twitter and instagram and have started using bluesky.

Go functions can take type as a parameter and return it... I wonder what other ways types as values can be useful in Go 👀

2024 really is a great year for people to work with HTML/CSS * browser compatibility for new features as at an all-time high * there are tons of new primitives to work with * layouting and fluid design has never been easier with flex, grid and container queries

My Twitter feed is full of toxic tweets, engagement baits, and ads. Bluesky feels like a breath of fresh air.
