Exploring dynamics in shape space from biological data This week, participants gathered at NITMB for the Representing and Learning Morphology and Shape Dynamics from Biological Data workshop! Thank you for joining us! We hope to see you at NITMB again soon!

🧠 Exploring how computation emerges from network dynamics Thank you for joining us at the NITMB Scientific Focus: Theory and Mathematics in Neuroscience – Dynamics in Neuroscience Workshop! We hope to see you at NITMB again soon!

We’re excited to extend a warm welcome to the NITMB Scientific Focus: Theory and Mathematics in Neuroscience Scholars-In-Residence joining us at NITMB! Throughout the next 6 weeks, these junior scientists will work directly with invited senior investigators and the core organizing team

🧠 Exploring the convergence of neuroscience with mathematical, computational, and experimental approaches This week at NITMB, we hosted the Data-driven modeling, simulation and inference for neurobiological problems workshop! Thank you for joining us! We hope to see you at NITMB again soon!

Don't forget to submit your NITMB scientific workshop proposal today! We are scheduling workshops beginning in October 2027, and today is the deadline for the next round of proposal reviews. Additional review rounds for 2028 will take place in 2027 Learn more at www.nitmb.org/workshops/

At tomorrow’s NITMB Seminar, Lai-Sang Young, the Henry & Lucy Moses Professor of Science and Professor of Mathematics at New York University, uses recent modeling work to illustrate the interaction between mathematics and biology in computational neuroscience Join us tomorrow at 10am! 🔗 👇️

⏰️ Tomorrow is the deadline for the next round of workshop proposals! Workshops are scheduled at least 12 months in advance, and we are currently scheduling workshops starting in October 2027. Additional review rounds for 2028 will take place in 2027 www.nitmb.org/workshops/

We're excited to share that NITMB Scientific Leader Vincenzo Vitelli has been awarded a 2026 MacArthur (Genius) Fellowship! Vincenzo’s work bridges theoretical physics, mathematics, and biology to model how forces and movement flow through living tissues and active cells

🔬 Exploring the Ozbudak and Snead Labs Members of the broader NITMB community got together to talk about their work and possible ways mathematical and biological/theoretical and experimental researchers can collaborate in the future at the first NITMB Lab Day!

Experimentalists at Northwestern Medical Campus hosted mathematicians, physicists, and theorists in their labs to show them their research on condensates and mechanisms in cancer and embryonic cells

Through their demonstrations, theorists could better understand the goals and challenges of experimentation and how they might develop models for data analysis
