struggling to figure out what to wear to this musical (‘bay boy: the musical’) that conveys respect for the performers and the performance BUT that also allows me to not ruin nice clothes that ‘may likely be splashed with washable fake blood’

every year my husband and i fight about whether we wait until november 1 to turn the heat on (like REAL new englanders), or turn it on once the temperature inside goes below a certain level. this year, he won, but the theromstat no longer connects to our central heating system — so looks like i won.

got a mailer today from a mass super pac that CLAIMS to warn me, a massachussetts voter, about the 'dangers' of a 'SUPER LIBERAL' socialist candidate for governor who i admit i did not know about until this mailer appeared in my box today. the card seems to tout her 'dangers' in flattering terms.

the flip side says we should vote for 'commonsense republican mike minogue' but the conspirarcy therorist in me thinks these were targeted mailers sent to voters in progressive pockets to convince them to not vote for the elected governor (a democrat) and lower her totals statewide.

the superpac listed as supporting this mailer doesn't have a lot of other stuff going on, and is absolutely pro-minogue (the republican candidate for mass gov) but am i wild? this mailer feels like a way to trick people into voting for the independent.

the last novel i read in french is called 'Faber: Le destructeur' which was a wild jaunt through the narrator's memory of his buddy faber who lead a student rebellion in their high school in the mid-90s and i guess that random book is surprisingly relevant now huh

more relevant, the columnist’s interesting exploration of what a coffee shop opening in her small hometown meant to her as a young person — some good through lines here but neither piece connects through

a relevant and interesting exploration of the once over-saturation of starbucks locations in downtown boston that nevertheless doesn’t really hit on some central questions of what a coffee shop is meant to do

in my cambridge neighborhood, there are two thriving independent coffee shops. lines out the door on weekends. crowded tables weekday mornings. yes, we are in a college town, but still — something’s working. (nearest chain is a dunkin in central sq [which took over from a starbux])

had the simplest most satisfying breakfast (homemade maple milk bread, toasted, with peanut butter and sliced apples [that i picked myself] and sliced bananas) and i felt some kind of wonderful after and still do

also the conclusion (single use stalls for all) is 100% correct, i read the final grafs to my small bladdered husband just now and he said 'hell yeah! HELL yeah!) and did a little clap

naturally, @katewagner.wehwalt.net is a perfect reviewer for bryant simon's new book on public restrooms in america

look i know nobody else can see the 'fewer miles this week than last week' notifications on my strava homepage but do they KNOW how stressful those numbers are for a tryhard runner i mean (i know they know)

okay okay i’ll show you the tartlets

last night i made my potluck theme ‘red delicious’ since we went apple picking and i wanted an excuse to use the apples (NOT red delicious mind you) and i cobbled together a macintosh sweet red cheddar carmelized onion chive mini savory tart idea out of nowhere and they ABSOLUTELY slapped

my last customer at the cheese shop today told me, 'these are such tasty picks, thanks so much for sharing your expertise!' and let me tell you, the GRIN on my face on my walk home just now was e a r t o e a r

the quality of light outside right now in cambridge feels like we’re at the top of a spooky autumnal disney channel original movie (complimentary)
