Last week @joerlansdale.bsky.social and @kaseylansdale.bsky.social stopped in town to talk about their new books! I got my books signed, including my copy of @newedgeswordmag.bsky.social issue 7 which has a cocktail recipe I designed honouring Lansdale's #SwordAndPlanet story. Super flattered!

The other week there was a horror convention in Mesa and one of the guests was Tony Amendola (Stargate SG-1/Once upon a time). He was in the BBC docudrama Pompeii: The Last Day, which is talked about in-depth by essayist Nick Poulakis in my book The New Peplum. So, I had to get my book autographed.

New autographed books for my library! Jeffrey Mariotte / @jeffmariotte.bsky.social was gracious to sign copies of his two new books, Flesh of All Sorrows (from @crystallake.bsky.social ) and Billy the Kid: Cheat the Hangman, to me. Very cool! #Horror #Westerrn #Autograph #Thriller #Indieauthor

Arrived in the post today: Pompeii signed by Jack Bauer! There is a local comics/collectibles store that was doing a signing event with Kiefer Sutherland, so I said sure, why not send something in, so I sent in the #neopeplum film Pompeii. Here it is! #SwordAndSandal #Peplum #Pompeii #Autograph

The day had come to sell all my Magic: The Gathering cards I’ve held onto since high school (revised/5th edition era). Dropped them off at my LCS. Spent so many lunches playing MTG when I was a kid. Bittersweet to see them go, but I’m not using them (plus I’ll get hosed on price but what can u do?)

Halloween Looney Tunes Krispy Kreme procured!

Here we are engaged in the discourse of Emily Wilson and The Odyssey yet I'm still stuck in Edith Hamilton vs. Hercules Against the Moon Men mode. Hashtag SwordNSandal4Evah

Hot take from a small fry. I am not an authority on The Odyssey or its translations, but I am an authority on sword and sandal/peplum cinema, and coming from the film genre perspective: the film is fantastic and is able to do what gladiator 2 failed to do.

T-minus 4 Hours until watching The Odyssey tonight. But in case something goes awry, I do have The Odyssey at home. The Odyssey at home:

Off to see The Odyssey this evening! A reminder! The Odyssey = #neopeplum film. If you're into #swordandsandal cinema, both old school and new, consider plucking up my book, The New Peplum, from @mcfarland.bsky.social ! It has a discount code! #TheOdyssey #Historicepic #Epic #Peplum #Cultfilm
