imo, the goofiness strengthens the song. like the idea that gave birth to this song was felt so strongly that ordinary language couldn't quite contain it. same as playing guitar with distortion, except applied to words and grammar. i really don't think this would hit as hard in "proper" english.

the peculiar thing about let me hear is that its probably the only song by a japanese band where i had to look up the lyrics to figure out the ENGLISH part (which accounts for 99% of the lyrics for some reason)

bro it's Bacchus. NOT doing these would be disrespectful to ancient Roman religion.

may 2 2023. I've only become more confident that there's no good future for us at least on an individual human timescale. I'll repeat what I said multiple times: live the now, value the time you spend with your loved ones and friends. Today's the best day of the rest of your life.

Around me, I see a lot of people in tech and entertainment feeling a bit down and lost. AI plays a role, but its a general sense of hopelessness and lack of some positive vision of future to strive for. I am wondering if my sample is biased, or if its a bigger general trend.

in case you can't tell, yes im very disappointed in james its fine to not take a political stance publicly. but explicitly making a point of being "apolitical" is just dickless behavior. especially for such a politically charged genre as metal.

bodies fill the fields i see hungry heroes end no one to play soldier now no one to pretend runnin blind thru killing fields bred to kill them all victim of what said should be a servant till i fall www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4gO...

"we're here to forget about the outside shit" plays a song about war veteran plays a song about addiction plays a song about young people getting pointlessly slaughtered in wars fucking pick a lane man.

if you want your music to be pure escapism, there's nothing wrong with that. but saying shit like that is not befitting metallica. i'd expect it from lead singer of manowar (no hate, love their music), not james fucking hetfield.

soldier boy, made of clay now an empty shell twenty-one only son but he served us well born to KILL not to CARE do just as we say finished here, greetings, death, he's yours to take away

darkness, imprisoning me all that I see, absolute horror I cannot live, I cannot die trapped in myself, body my holding cell land mine has taken my sight taken my speech, taken my hearing taken my arms, taken my legs taken my soul, left me with life in hell

what we actually miss is not being cucked by people who resell us knowledge that was put on the internet by humanity for free. your kid's kids will grow up to be serfs in a neofeudalist hellscape but at least you got to drink espresso instead of rubbing two braincells together. fuck.

so refreshing to read this type of content where it isn't claudeslop

While reviewing the Steam Frame, I replayed all of Half Life: Alyx. It's still a singular game, and on the new hardware it sings. But to play it now is to be confronted with the possibility that nobody will be allowed to make a VR game of that scope ever again. aftermath.site/half-life-al...

aftermath.siteWill There Ever Be Another Half-Life: Alyx?Half-Life: Alyx remains the big budget killer app of VR. But playing it again makes you wonder if anyone will match that ambition.
