If you’re a Trump supporter you are a supporter the sexual abuse of children. There’s no excuses anymore and no other way to see it. I genuinely don’t want you around my child.

It’s the persistent and self-defeating notion that you should simply blow in the wind with what you perceive as public opinion in any given moment without ever considering that you could take action to push it one way or the other.

The logic here seems to be that when JD Vance said Abdul El-Sayed should show more "gratitude" toward America, El-Sayed should have stayed quiet instead of saying this in response (apologies for interviewing a dynamic Dem politician rather than a centrist pundit) newrepublic.com/article/2169...

Matt Yglesias’s position that the people in Minnesota should not have protested and that democrats should stay silent on moral issue because it *might* help Republican if they don’t is morally depraved. He is proud to be the white moderate that MLK warned us against.

This Zeteo interview is infuriating. He can’t defend his posting or his recent writings under a little bit of oppositional questioning. It all just comes down to “my politics are popular and will win by dent of them being my politics”

Yglesias pronounces Mamdani’s name like every conservative does. What is his problem?

Between this and a dead soldier being unceremoniously scraped off a football field to make way for the game…the semiotics are too much these days man.

Matthew McConaughey reading an AI generated statement essentially saying “I’m a Republican, but don’t wanna say it!” is just further proof that he’s one of the dumbest mfs alive.

the second el-sayed chose to treat tommy as an equal and not a nuisance, tommy was cooked

This is Tommy. Tommy had a question about my allegiances. Listen to the end to hear about his.

Readers’ attitudes toward Stephen King are a litmus test for me. You don’t have to like his stuff, but if your opinion is he’s a bad writer it makes me think you don’t know what you’re talking about at best, or are a massive snob at worst.

Kyle Bailey@nerdofdoom.bsky.social

I like The Shining film, but if I were Stephen King I would hate the living shit out of it

Also if you say “reading journey” you’re dead to me

one of my more smug takes: If you only read or collect books that can be found at Target I do not respect you as a reader

I went to Barnes & Nobel today and I was disgusted by the number of books with damn near the same exact covers with the floral printing on the edge of the pages. The absolute state of publishing man.

“That’s what ISIS does” in reference to public executions is yet another failure to confront who we are and what we are capable of as a society. We need only reference our own history and present, it’s not necessary to bring in a boogie man for comparison.

Just because there are fringe lunatics who are anti-genocide doesn’t mean that being anti-genocide is a fringe lunatic position. I know folks want to highlight these “maoist communist union” clowns protesting Mamdani as some sort of gotcha - he’s reaping what he sowed - but thats utter bullshit.

I can tell you as someone who has been in leftists spaces off an on for my entire life that these folks are a subset of a subset of annoying assholes who most people cannot stand, including their fellow leftists.

It’s notable that Democratic pundits and whatnot know so little about the streaming world that they persistently condemn Hasan as a toxic no-go zone but then pal around with a guy like Destiny who actually is that.

I can’t get over the UN speech. Genocidal maniac and wanted war criminal gets to stand up there and threaten world leaders while doing the most fucked up gaslighting I’ve ever heard. Yet we are supposed to take the international order seriously in any fuckin way?

It’s insane to me that the fact of a genocide is less upsetting than the label to some people. We all know it’s a genocide, it’s hardly debatable, but some want to argue that it’s still not ok to use the world because of the *implications*

And I get that there are implications. Is anyone handwringing about the death and destruction among German civilians in WW2? Not really. They surrendered any moral high ground they might have had and everyone remembers it even now.

But my point is if we decide not to use the word “genocide” is doesn’t change the fact of the genocide that has happened wether Israel supporters want to admit it or not. We all watched it, the ruins are still there for all to see.

The backlash against Ed Sheeran gives me a lot of hope. I’m glad that people are seeing the fence sitting for what it is: morally bankrupt and neutral only in name.

I think a lot of left wing academia is silly including the examples floating around today, but the thing that really concerns me is the fear it seems to cause. As if a right wing poster making fun of an academic conference on Twitter for a day will sink the Democratic Party or something.

What drives me crazy is that I want Democrats to win across the ideological spectrum. I’ll be voting for Roy Cooper, for example. So I want them to stop outing themselves as stooges to Israel when the opinion about Israel among their own constituents is in the toilet. It’s a self-own.

Do they think destroying Hasan will make people happier with Israel? Do they think destroying him gets people to vote for moderates? I really don’t understand the strategy here, unless of course there isn’t or their primary concern is not to win the election.

At the end of the day it’s a really really bad look for the Democratic Party no matter how you feel about Hasan. They look more and more like a puppet that is utterly incapable of listening to or responding to the actual desires of their constituents. They are ripe to outflanked by Republicans.

Kyle Bailey@nerdofdoom.bsky.social

The recent Hasan backlash has bodysnatcher vibes. It’s clearly coordinated, lazy as hell, and utterly self defeating. They need to move on, but for obvious reasons, they cannot. They really want the closing message of the midterm to be “we defeated Hasan, vote for us” which compels no one.
