Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

If a goal feels too big and overwhelming, just lower the stakes. Instead of running 100 miles in a month, set a goal to run for 5 minutes a day. Just show up and create the habit.

every time i make progress on personal stuff, family time slips. push on work, workouts fade. balance feels impossible some days.

can't see the next step? try walking away from the screen a quick stroll or moving to another spot with a notebook can shake something loose creative answers show up when the code editor is closed

Once you understand that it's is easier to move a problem around than it is to solve it, life will make more sense.

Most overlooked thing in system design interviews is making quick back-of-the-napkin calculations. how much data? how many users? storage or bandwidth needed? Small estimates save big time when making architectural calls

System design interviews aren't about finding the perfect answer... Real value is listing options, showing trade-offs, and talking through why you choose one path over another There’s always more than one good solution

The front page of ttrpglist.com is driven by reviews btw. The competition is pretty low.. if you wanted to put your game on the front page, you you probably do it with a few reviews… Just saying…

I launched my first website in my dorm to sell skateboards. 15 years on, I've realized every project is just small hacks and determination. Nobody masters everything, we just keep trying and learning.

The idea of getting it right the first time hits different In software we lean so hard on testing and rework. What would it look like if we had no QA teams?

Debugging isn’t just a hurdle. It’s where understanding actually happens. When ai fixes things for you, you skip the learning. the gaps show up later, usually when everything is on fire.

Most people think mqtt is about message queues. It acktually uses a pub/sub pattern, not traditional queues. Naming things is hard.

My 3D printing workflow Fusion 360 to model Cura to slice the model into printer code Octoprint to manage the printer and save me from SD cards Not pictured is calipers and measuring things in the real world

the best measure of progress on any project? working software that actually runs talk is cheap. shipping real code is the difference how often are you delivering something that works?

Using steam and hot water can make plywood flexible enough to wrap around tight curves, no glue needed.

Want more effective teams? trust them with real responsibility give motivated people the right environment, then get out of the way You’ll be surprised what self-organizing teams can pull off

fastlane with firebase distribution is a pretty nice developer experience for mobile. I wish I learned about this sooner

If you rush into drawing boxes and lines in a system design interview, you’re already missing the point First goal? define what’s in and out of scope ask questions. set boundaries. don’t design blindly

All my TTRPG characters eventually become an unhinged raccoon. Does this mean I’ve found my spirit animal, or am I just bad at role playing?
