North Carolina is facing toxic pollution risks in drinking water, air, soil, workplaces, homes and communities. EPA rollbacks and delays make those risks harder to prevent and clean up. www.wral.com/news/local/e...
"a proposed amendment to cap local property taxes looks appealing, but it’s really a gift to data centers, Duke Energy and Raleigh politicians."
"I wanted to help (children) understand that they have a powerful voice, sometimes more powerful that adults"
"Amazon, one of the wealthiest companies in the world, and Duke Energy, a regulated monopoly, can and should do better than belching deadly soot pollution into the air North Carolinians breathe from a whopping 649 diesel-fired generators powering a massive data center"
"Almost 2,000 sea turtle nests have been spotted along North Carolina’s coast this year — the second-most since the state started tracking nests in 2009."
"The Neuse River waterdog is only found in eastern NC within the Neuse and Tar River basins. Due to runoff from urban development degrading its habitat, it has disappeared from 35% of its range and is now federally threatened."
Glad to see so many Richmond County residents speaking out against Duke Energy and Amazon's massive data center.

Duke Energy and Amazon want to sidestep clean air standards for a massive new data center in NC with 649 polluting diesel generators. If this project is approved, it could make it easier for future large-scale data centers to sidestep important environmental protections. Sign the petition to oppose!
We delivered over 30,000 petitions from NC residents who oppose Duke Energy's request to raise our energy bills!
"if grid improvements will disproportionately benefit data centers, why should residential customers bear more costs?"
"This is an insult to the people of eastern North Carolina. It does practically nothing for the state. It sends a message that the EPA doesn't really care about groundwater contamination" www.wunc.org/environment/...
After public outcry, Duke Energy has reduced its proposed rate hike – but not enough, and the corporation still wants to charge regular North Carolinians more than industrial and commercial customers. We need fair and affordable rates!

“This reversal is a slap in the face to every community that has fought for clean drinking water. EPA’s decision isn’t grounded in science or law – it’s a political choice that endangers families throughout America.”
“We need real action, and health based protection. Hold these chemical companies responsible!”
