Among abortion patients in states where Medicaid is not restricted from covering abortion, 45.5 percent of Asian respondents said they used Medicaid to pay for their abortion.

The Hyde Amendment poses a major barrier between millions of AANHPI women and access to abortion care. The EACH Act would end the Hyde Amendment, require abortion coverage in government health plans and programs, and protect private insurers that choose to cover abortion care.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Hyde Amendment, a law that prohibits the use of federal funds for abortion, with narrow exceptions.

This rule is a violation of our reproductive freedoms and has been deeply harmful to AANHPI women+. About 4.62m Asian women & 613,000 Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander women are enrolled in Medicaid.

Rest in peace to feminist icon Gloria Steinem. As a journalist, activist, organizer, and funder, she built so much of the modern women’s movement.

In 2015, Gloria Steinem met with participants of our Reproductive Justice Reproductive Justice Leadership, Amplification, Mobilization, and Power Building (RJ LAMP) - a program that convened young women from across the country to learn about storytelling for social change.

Gloria once said, “Telling each other our stories is the single most revolutionary act.” We’ll honor her legacy by continuing to tell ours.

Rest in peace to feminist icon Gloria Steinem. As a journalist, activist, organizer, and funder, she built so much of the modern women’s movement.

The Ms. Foundation, co-founded by Gloria Steinem, was one of NAPAWF’s earliest supporters. The Foundation helped send our founding sisters to Beijing for the UN World Conference on Women, where they first saw the need for a national feminist organization dedicated to AAPI women.

Thirty years later, NAPAWF would not be here without the early support of the Ms. Foundation and its belief in our vision.

This October, we are proud to recognize Christine Wells-Wonsley as an honoree at NAPAWF's 30th anniversary event in Los Angeles. A portion of funds raised through the evening will support the Wells-Wonsley family through this incredibly difficult time.

Christine is the mother of Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old Black and Filipino American young man whose death has left his family grieving and searching for answers.

Nolan Wells would have been 19 today. He should still be alive. His family deserves a transparent and thorough investigation into his death and the support of our communities. We will continue showing up for Christine and her family, and echoing her demand for justice. napawf.org/news/as-nola...
