So Wolverine was the best selling game in September and widely panned as a "bad game, yet the new Gears reviewed very well, but hasn't sold well. I don't think anyone should be surprised by that. Don't we see that in other forms of media too?

Podcasts are full of hot takes, and that's the point. I get it. Sometimes, in the moment, you forget. Listened to a show recently where they suggested PlayStation doesn't have any major "royalty" franchises. Of course, that is crazy talk, but it speaks to the public discourse around Sony right now.

Sony is on an unbelievable streak of shite PR. If not for GTA VI, some of these decisions might actually come back to haunt them. Is the idea to run the business lean for the foreseeable future? See how all this plays out. Remember MS still has about 1600 employees to let go at some point.

Wolverine is gonna be the sacrificial lamb for the people who really dislike Sony’s decision on killing discs. No matter how good of a job Insomniac has done, the game is going to catch the brunt of it. Already can hear early tones of this on certain podcasts.

The GTA VI hype brings back fond memories of when the prior game launched. I had the opportunity to be on a WGBH ( a PBS channel) program to discuss the release as part of a panel of gamers for and against the title.

Xbox has started testing a new "immersive background mode" on Xbox Series X/S consoles. It fades away the Xbox Home UI so you can fully see your background. It's currently in testing with Xbox Insiders
