I can't stand his personality - but we need to really wake up fiscally. This huge drop is a necessary step in the right direction. Right now, if we look at the chart of the fed debt, it should horrify us. We are now paying interest on the debt bigger than our whole budget awhile back...

..to have both! But if you have to choose, pick the surgeon that's going to save your life. That, in a nutshell, describes a vote for Trump. He's a dick. But we need a construction foreman right now to have a foundation that isn't going to tank. I haven't come around to liking him. But...

right now -- historically -- I'm seeing the value in accepting that this group may be just the team we need. Most of us are not reading about financial situations. There's a lot to be aware of when considering everything.

Sometimes you need to lead with heart. And sometimes you need to think like an economist. Right now, even with all the social issues in the mix, we need a firm financial structure to continue to operate as a country. Aside: Did you know that some of the best surgeons are total narcissists?

But that works to our advantage when they care so much about their own greatness that they get get results in surgery. At that point, we care more about the qualified narcissist than that guy with the kind bedside manner whose outcomes aren't as stellar. Not that it wouldn't be desirable...

..a foreman on a construction site is smart. Smart in that he figured out how to play among mafia, politicians, celebrities and still succeed. Smart in that he got elected twice. Despicable personality. But he's got good instincts. This is a huge gamble, but we have to get it straight with $.

Smart folks on both sides talk about how it will work, won't work. Jury is out. But don't forget that he surrounds himself with intelligent people. And while your construction foreman may not be the guy who would edit a newspaper or write a hopeful speech, you want your building to stand firm.

The money they printed was eventually worth more as fuel to stay warm than it was for any actual monetary value. I am as woke as the next guy. But I equate woke to be "artistic" and financially grounded to "boring". My personality is woke. But you can't be woke if you can't EAT.

Guys! - I can't stand the dude's personality. Or his prescriptions. just -- yuck. But we have to remember that while he's nowhere close to Obama-articulate, he's attempting to shore this up before we go bankrupt. And while he's no orator, he is smart... Smart in the way...

What Trump is doing potentially is intentionally tanking the market to lower interest rates. He wanted the fed to lower them directly but they wouldn't. So this is the hard way. Once the rates are lower, we can refi that debt. But it's a huge game of chicken...

What folks agree on ist hat it's a huge gamble- He's all in - betting the whole presidency on it. But what we have to get, even when we can't stand him, is that without change, we are sunk - we are bankrupt. And if you read up on the Weimar hyperinflation situation from Germany so many years ago..

In addition to that big problem, a big part of the debt (9T ish) comes due in the next year and has to be refinanced! So, debt that we are paying interest on will get refied at way higher rates, making our deficits much worse, and bringing the weimer cliff that much closer....

Eating meat is not healthier. It's just not. Not only is it biologically bad for the planet and ecologically a waste of energy, but it's not even actually good for us in most studies. We are absolutely lacking so many nutrients that come from plants. Eat plants.

The new way seems to be that if folks disagree about ideas, one just blocks the other. If one is rude, sure. But if just an exchange of differing ideas, then what has blocking that person accomplished? Different opinions and reconsiderations need not create insecurity or identity crises.

anyone's political opinions about this or that. We will just be money insolvent. Seriously, read up about how this stuff works financially. Get into the math and the history of things. There isn't any other actual option than to cut spending. The sooner we get there as adults, the better we are able

and national savings and smart spending. Hear me out, fellow democrats. How many of us are even personally budgeting? Saving? Saving for retirement? Cutting corners? Are we personally making wise choices that look at our own situations? Or are we buying shit we don't need and making excuses?

Get out and work. Hate Trump and hate the approaches he's taking. I can't stand him as a person. But get this straight: we need to do what they are doing. And we have needed it for a long while. The tipping point is coming if they DON'T do it. And the day that happens, there will be no room for

I was prepared. I didn't spend money I didn't have. I scraped and saved. I still do. And we all can. Beyond those who have disabilities, which any of us can have and acquire and need support for, we also need to work our asses off and get OFF disability when it's time. I have friends living on

disability and public assistance who have far extended their need for it. And some who never actually needed it. And that's the tip of the iceberg with entitlement and defense spending fraud. We need to quit whining and by and large, get off our asses and make the tough choices that lead to personal

If more fellow democrats understood the greater financial picture, they'd realize we sound like a bunch of whining kids. We DO need to protect the vulnerable and pay for absolutely important things. But we cannot continue down this path. Getting there isn't going to be easy. But it's necessary.

People need to get back to living within our means. That means NO credit cards. No debt. Save your money. I did it on a teacher's salary at age 25 with 10k, then 20k in the bank. I had a roommate. I had a side gig tutoring. I saved. I lived simply. And I was happy! Hard shit came down the pipeline.

Human resiliency was much greater in the past. It's true in the 30's, it was stretched to the breaking point. But if you were to analyze what a family of four was able to live off (for example, my parents' families during that time), it was much less than what most today would consider poverty.

Yet they made it through. And savings habits were generally far better, even the little they had to save. The truth is, we can bitch and moan all day about it. But we can't pay for this shit. So we have to stop spending so much. There's no way to get ahead of it with new revenue.

and then nobody benefits from anything. We don't have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. And the way this admin is approaching it is in many ways, right now, ludicrous. There are wiser ways than what we are seeing play out. But nevertheless, even as a democrat, we must address spending.

Entitlements and defense are the big areas. Medicare, Medicaid, SS. Political suicide to touch them. Fiscal suicide not to. Math has to math. We can debate who deserves what. Income level. Retirement age. But FDR and LBJ set us off on this predictable path. And we can't pay for it all.

nowhere near as tough and focused on work-ethic as we used to be. The entitlement programs that exist are imperative for some of our genuinely needy folks. For many others, we have rampant fraud. It actually does genuinely need to be fixed. There is no argument here. We will go bankrupt otherwise

This short thread is, imo, a great summary of thoughts on this matter I learned in NLP training & in Jane Robertsโ€™ Seth books. โ€œDisciplineโ€ is much about aligning beliefs & thoughts (and thus feelings) with a desired thingโ€”an internal motivation, not external. ๐Ÿชโ™’๏ธ=ordered thinking, aka a discipline.
