Oh boy, are the Right excited by this graph recently published by The Economist! And of course none of them has bothered to read the article itself (TBF, it is behind a paywall!). So as always, let's add a little context and explain why these kinds of comparisons are so problematic 🧵1/25

Here's a #HigherEducationPostcard of @kingscollege.bsky.social and Clare College, seen from the backs If you hold the card up to the light, the windows look like they are lit up - early C20 novelty If you like this image, I’d really appreciate a repost – it helps to spread the word!

‘Migrant HMOs’ in Salford are under attack. But is everything as it seems? We spoke to a woman whose home has been targeted. She's black and says she doesn't live in an HMO at all - she and her four kids were asleep when their windows shattered. Her new car was damaged too.

That time someone dumped a toy house on the cemetery wall and, when I crouched a bit, some ✨ Hollywood Magic ✨ occurred.

Sheffield! This is Sunday. My award losing Edinburgh fringe 4* comedy lecture about pettiness with @andrewoneillcomedy.bsky.social + Hannah Braggins at the civilised time of 4pm. Say QUACKS - well, write it in the discount box but also, why not say it out loud - and tix may even be free?🎫

Not to harp on this, but one man has now coordinated the disruption of a port, two separate attacks on the RNLI, and interference with the border force and the police have no further questions? And the Home Secretary has not noticed?

I'm genuinely delighted that Doctor Who prompted me to zoom into this image to check there wasn't an alien in the window.

Sheffield! All rise for the Chief Petty Officer. After an unreal run at Edinburgh Fringe, I’m back home to do my comedy lecture on the history and cultural significance of pettiness (& scientific formula for the perfect petty act) to Sheffield Plate on 4th October at the civilised Sunday time of 4pm

Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: Local hero wishes he'd never been born after bank mixup. Hope this rings a bell.

It would be impossible to guess any of this from most media coverage.

Hahaha! Now it's second story, and they've added 'Reform plans to'. Someone must have had a word. It's still an utterly ridiculous puff piece. They might as well just say 'Reform plans to use a pen torch to drill a hole in the surface of the moon'.

This doesn't even warrant being top story in the 'politics' section, but this is the main story of their entire news website. No 'Reform claim', just the BBC relating a press release from a party with a handful of MPs as a fact. This is GB news stuff.
