Excellent conversation with Abdul El-Sayed. I especially liked his explanation of public goods like infrastructure and healthcare and why the market won't support them.

Dolly Parton logged a combined total of 115 years of union membership. Throughout her working life, the “9 to 5” singer/songwriter carried the union cards of two major unions: The American Federation of Musicians Local 257 in Nashville — for 58 years. SAG-AFTRA — for 57 years. HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Angie Nixon is amazing! When Ron DeSantis and his cronies started coming up with schemes to ban books, Nixon opened a bookstore that puts the banned books on display up front. The store places an emphasis on Black History and telling the whole story of America. Nixon fights for the right to read!

Speaker Johnson plans to gavel the House of Representatives out of session until November—with no real action on AI threats. That’s irresponsible, anti-democratic and dangerous. Congress should stay in session until it implements robust AI oversight—and approves strong regulation of the industry.
