Given the current state of things, it's no wonder that the hopepunk genre is gaining popularity. We could all do with a fair bit of hope right now. But at the same time, it's sad that the ideas of harmony with nature and a megacorp-free society are things we have to look to fantasy to enjoy.

I made a Shavian pangram: 𐑖𐑰 𐑛𐑮𐑪𐑐𐑑 𐑨𐑙𐑒𐑼 𐑨𐑑 𐑞 𐑚𐑱𐑠 𐑐𐑽 𐑯 𐑔𐑷𐑑 𐑣𐑬 𐑣𐑻 𐑢𐑷𐑑𐑼𐑦 𐑝𐑶𐑦𐑡 𐑗𐑸𐑥𐑛 𐑹 𐑿𐑯𐑲𐑑𐑩𐑛 𐑞 𐑺𐑾: 𐑘𐑧𐑕, 𐑣𐑻 𐑒𐑮𐑵𐑟 𐑓𐑱𐑕𐑩𐑟 𐑷𐑤 𐑤𐑫𐑒𐑑 𐑩𐑜𐑤𐑴 𐑢𐑦𐑞 𐑢𐑳𐑯𐑛𐑼. She dropped anchor at the beige pier and thought how her watery voyage charmed or united the area: yes, her crew’s faces all looked aglow with wonder. (1/3)

It’s obviously not the most economical pangram people have made for Shavian, but I went into it with two goals in mind. 1. Use all 48 letters including compounds (the popular ones I’ve seen just use the main 40). 2. Make it not sound like total nonsense. (2/3)

To the second point, it seems pretty much impossible to make something coherent that doesn’t have a lot of repeated letters. I think I did pretty well with 27 words. I’m glad I tried it! (3/3)

The more I get used to using the Shavian alphabet, the more I realize just how much more sense it makes for English. Like, it's genuinely so superior to Latin letters for English.

An unrealistic UX goal of mine is to redesign ADP, one of the most prevalent yet horribly-designed pieces of software in existence. How did it get to be this bad?? Has anyone ever had a smooth and problem-free experience with it?

Well, it looks like this has general support with one dissent. I think we should try it. If you’re open to spelling suggestions in Shavian put #𐑣𐑬𐑟𐑥𐑲𐑕𐑐𐑧𐑤𐑦𐑙 in the message or your profile. I ask that nobody ‘correct’ any replies to my posts that lack this tag, and will pin a message to this effect.

I don't believe that people are averse to change as a whole; they're averse to cons outweighing pros, the distribution of which is not always clear in advance. If I gave you a billion dollars, I think you'd be prepared to make some drastic changes in your life over a very short period of time.

The first thing you learn in UX design is how important it is to understand what users actually want and need from a product. I'm hearing a lot about what #TheBrowserCompany thinks #Dia should be, but they haven't talked about the research they've done to arrive at these design decisions.

I think they're scrambling to make a profitable browser to please investors. I don't think any browser can be profitable on its own; that's why you create new revenue streams to help support it. #ArcBrowser should have been the gateway to other paid offerings, and Dia should have been one of them.

One of my favorite quotes of all time. The man had many other wise and fascinating things to say, but this one stuck with me. I often wonder what he would have thought about #Shavian?

Something that makes me unreasonably angry is when companies write articles promoting their products that masquerade as regular tech help articles. "You could try this really simple thing, OR you could give us some MONEYYY!!"
