On BlueSky and software developer for the glory 🥱 of the empire 🦁😳, Qapla’! 🙋‍♂️😎

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

If you see this post something blue. (I went to the shop today for one bottle of blue paint and came back with four, meaning I now have seven bottles in total including the ones I already had.).

Rich. I'll do it Dreckly. ME/CFS@shadowcaster6656.bsky.social

If you see this post something blue.

Went to the shop to buy one bottle of blue paint. Came back with four 🙄, making me the proud owner of seven bottles of blue paint: "Blue Is the Warmest Color" (IMO a great movie, with Adèle Exarchopoulos 🤩, won the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival).

Microsoft no longer supports my Office 2021 Home Edition and wants me to buy M$ 365, which comes with cloud storage 🕵️☁️🕵️ and an ongoing subscription 💸 It's time to look for a non-US tech alternative 🤔

Vallejo 71.004 Blue mixed with a bit of 71.057 Black doesn’t work well 😭 Not sure why, but the mixture hardly shows up against the black primer base coat. Vallejo 71.266 Dark Blue seems to have better coverage, so I’ll try that instead 🤔

Applied Ocean Gray (AV 71.273). Raw plastic straight out of the box is almost the same colour 🤔 Green camo next 😎

The ESM (Euro Scale Modelling) model-making competition info - zero points are awarded for: - visible seams and gaps 🔎 - silvering decals 🤩 - streaky brush marks 🔬 - poor paint coverage 🔭 - unrealistic weathering 🌦️ That way my models and 98% of the models out there don't stand a chance 😅

Applied a new acrylic base coat by brush 🖌️ Some sanding to follow. Applying enamel paint went better than I remembered from when I was a kid. But AV Model Air acrylics are intended for an airbrush, not a paintbrush 🤔

Is this a pre-shading effect? 🤔 Left (1) had a slightly white background from overspray during a previous paint job. Middle (2) is black primer, and the right (3) is yellow masking tape. Can’t imagine I missed the middle area. Different base coats, and the blue paint looks completely different.

White stripe sorted, next challenge: the blue stripe. The model kit did include decals for the blue stripe but I am not going to use them. Put together several images and also an image of the real thing to find out what to do for the next paint job 🖌️

It seems I'm enjoying soothing music more the older ⏳ I get. My taste in music from the '80s to now (2026) 🎶 However, it's very unlikely Frédéric Chopin will get into #my9albums soon. I'am not that old yet 😅

Software developer: always learning because things keep changing. Sometimes I wish things were less erratic so I could do more on autopilot. 1989: Cobol 🙄 > VB / VBA 😎 > VbScript> JavaScript > jQuery > TypeScript > AngularJS > Angular 😵‍💫 > MVC 🥱 > 2026:Blazor 😳

You cannot learn a language by using a calculator. Whether that is learning how to code software, the language of chemical compounds, or ANY skill. The human brain can only learn by DOING. And failing. And DOING. Until you die. That's it. That process should never be stopped. #ScienceSky #ChemSky 🧪

The Vallejo white colour does not cover very well. A black primer base coat does not help either, as the base coat keeps showing through. So, applied paint with a brush again, removed the paint streaks using sandpaper and sprayed white again. That is how it turned out, will leave it as it is. 🤔

I have a compressor without an external tank as I am not doing long sessions and it also needs less space. After 1 hour I was already finishing & cleaning stuff as the compressor stopped because it got too hot. How long does it take before your processor needs a break because it gets too hot?

Another icon has passed away: Cronos (Conrad Lant), the founder, vocalist, and bassist of the heavy metal band Venom. I have two of the band’s albums, with “Black Metal” being my favourite.

Never watched MTV TBH. On the other hand I still remember TMF from the 90's. Guess it had to do with VJ Bridget Maasland who was in her early twenties 🤩 at that time 😅 Also remembered that Laser PC. Had one and its Power Supply Unit blew up 🔥🤬 Had to do some soldering for installing a new PSU 😳

Someone's not got the memo....

Paint mysteries.. did spray White-Grey (AV 71.119) but the Mustang's underside looks more Light-Gray irl 🤔 Guess spraying an extra layer might help in reducing the differences in colour 🙄🤷‍♂️

Also a paint mystery on this quiet Sunday morning. With sunlight 🔆 one sees the difference between silver and aluminium. However with artificial light 💡 the colours are alike 🤔

Some steps to go before doing the panel lines for my WIPs. I did not (over) accentuate the panel lines in my previous builds. Have to admit the model looks better with panel lines popping out. However, that's often not the case on looking at the planes irl. What do you do with your panel lines?

Quote this with a picture of the aircraft you'll accept as a bribe. Is this a good bribe? 🤔 The Swedish Air Force donated this Saab 37 Viggen to the Aviodrome aviation museum (NL) in 2006. Exposed to the elements ever since the plane starts to decay and looks more and more weathered by the day 😳

De "Zeven Provinciën" (1665) was a flagship of Lieutenant-Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. The Batavia shipyard started building the replica in 1995. The project was put on hold indefinitely 19 years later. Pictures are from 2017. Hope Association Tourville do better in building their Jean Bart.

The Jean Bart, a full-scale replica of a Louis XIV-era warship, under construction in Gravelines, France. The Association Tourville began building the vessel in 2002. The project relies on volunteers who have taken turns on the site for over 20 years to build the ship by hand 📸 Pierre Beauvillain

Was treating my DC-10 with medium gray and decided to spray the Mustang medium gray as well. It might not do justice to the RAF 268th squadron's historical accuracy but I decided to give the underside a white-gray colour 😎 anyway. Like Italeri's RAF colour scheme that looks more whitish 🤔

The programming languages I earn a living are within the top 10 according to the TIOBE programming Community Index. That’s why I like building my scale models. It makes me forget programming languages and statistics like that for a while.

Guess those will be Skynet's first words on becoming self aware 🙄

nixCraft@cyberciti.biz

When Skynet becomes self aware, what is the first thing it will say out loud?

Some dry fitting of what i made of the DC-10 wings so far. The Tamiya masking tape did well, no bleeding. And the AV Model Air paints behaved as well. Now on to the upper sides of the wings.

Passed the test. Went to the shop for flow improver and I left the shop with... just flow improver 😎 Although that Tamiya model kit was very tempting but I could resist the temptation 💪 #buildthestash

Twai@twai.bsky.social

I have the feeling I need to go and buy masking tape……….

The P-51A Mustang had its primer. Now on to the next paint layers. Unfortunately it's always AFTER cleaning the airbrush and throwing away the paint that I found out I had forgotten parts that could be sprayed in that spray session as well 😳

It's not the "Artesanía Latina" with its 10.000+ parts 😳 what I am having, It's 'only' the Airfix one what is in my stash. Looking at pictures of the real thing, how many ropes does that thing have? 🙀 Is there some kind a wiring diagram whenever in the future my HMS Victory is ready to be rigged 🤔

MRA@mrasoft.bsky.social

If time, money and space are no object and not having a stash anymore (built/binned), I would do this: Artesanía Latina - HMS victory 1:84, anatomy version Length:1202mm, Height w/stand: 875mm,over 10.000 parts 😳 With all its rigging till the last rope, guess it will take me 30 years to build 😅

Spent some time on the hobby this weekend. Will do some extra sessions next week. Content with the AV Model Air Silver and the AV black primer but several paint sessions need to be done to get satisfying results 🤔

"I hope so, Commander, for your sake. The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am." - such a pleasant working environment 😅 -

Give me an image from a film that immediately makes you hear the song from the soundtrack in your head.

On our way, 10 years ago (2016) - la Route Nationale, somewhere between Bourges and Troyes. For a tourist most French villages look similar, hardly changing over the years. Really did enjoy my holidays in France.

Could have saved the effort painting the wheel wells. Unlike a Spitfire nothing of it is visible once the landing gear is retracted. Seems the Italeri P51-A model kit is focused on an extended landing gear. The parts in question don’t have the best fit if you want to have a retracted landing gear.

Wasn’t satisfied with the sprayed paint layer so i decided to do some sanding as a preparation for the next layer to come. Just a little bit of sanding giving it an appearance of being in decay on a scrapyard 😅interesting 🤔

Time to apply a first layer (=primer). Don’t want to glue the canopy yet. Somewhat in doubt what’s the best way to mask the interior. Guess i have to use this silicon masking putty although it’s not my favourite material to work with 🤔

The silicon masking putty goes back to the tool box. Will try some cotton wool combined with masking tape to mask the interior.

A medieval gate, built between 1380 and 1425 and given this current appearance after the 1885/1886 restoration. As a resident of the city in question, I almost see it daily without giving it a second thought. However as a tourist, I might have taken countless pictures 📸
